  2. ND is not getting their butt kicked in NIL. Hamilton was one of the highest earners in NIL. Foskey and the Ademilolas will be high earners this year. If Buchner is as good as we hope he can be, he will blow them all out of the water. We have staff dedicated to NIL. The sky isn't falling, we're just making moves more quietly than I'm sure some people want ND to, but you better believe the coaches have a well rehearsed pitch when it comes up with recruits.
  3. Sorry if it was unclear, but I didn't necessarily mean people were insinuating kids were incapable of ND's academics. But like you said, it does happen almost anytime a commit decides to go elsewhere. What I meant was, we all know how difficult the ND transfer process is with the admissions office. Talking about it ad naseum isn't new information, its not a novel idea. We all know its hard, we all hope it changes to be less restrictive. But every single time someone posts Player X has entered the transfer portal, the immediate message board response from someone is "hmmm I wonder if he can qualify based on his classes." Guys, we get it, there's a process and its not likely to end in our favor. We don't need to do this for every player.
  4. Agree 100% that they need to be more flexible getting guys (especially those who qualified out of HS) into ND. And it’s never going to be a Michigan State situation at ND where we take 15 transfers or something crazy. But for the few that are interested and qualifying and most importantly improve the team, we need to be more flexible. good news, ND reporters have said ND is working on modifying the transfer system to match the reality of the 1 time transfer rule. a few general points not geared towards Elder’s quoted comment, but rather the entire board: 1. as a fan base / message board, whenever we talk about a transfer let’s all assume that player can qualify. we don’t need someone saying “love to have him…if he can qualify” because the nature of transferring to ND is a known quantity and you’re not bringing any new information nor are you an administrator at ND so let’s not play make believe admissions office w the paperwork; 2. remember that 99% of the players in the transfer portal STINK and are transferring because they didn’t get playing time. for every caleb williams (who is only transferring because Riley left) there’s like 50 Quinn Carrolls who just never panned out. the transfer portal is not and should not be a crutch for team building. thank you for coming to my TED talk
  5. I saw from Michigan beat guys, the QB coach is expected to go with him, but mostly educated speculation from what I can tell.
  6. Forget that, the only reason I want Dasan and Daeh at ND is because they’re top 100 and top 150 caliber talents!
  7. throws a bit of ice water on him coming to ND…for now. If the roles were reversed, we’d all be freaking out about losing him until he played his last down here. I still think there’s a strong possibility he winds up at ND.
  8. Well, they haven’t released a depth chart since the Fiesta Bowl. How could anyone else be #1 on a depth chart that hasn’t been revised, ya know, since it’s the off-season? ND also replaced an all-American safety with an all-American safety. So they haven’t done “nothing.”
  9. Now that we have our RB Coach, let's see if his son is interested in tagging along.... https://247sports.com/Player/Dasan-McCullough-46059433/

  11. We really like this. Not only is a good anchor for Keeley, it's also good timing given Keeley just got back from Alabama. While he's not in the barn yet, I'm sure talked to Reader re: his trip to Bama.
  12. I hear you, but he's a massive athlete that is from Illinois. Great length at LB and as RB he brings something different than any back we have on the roster. I think you take him now and if Justice Haynes wants in down the line, you figure it out.
  13. Way Too Early Questions for Spring Game 1. How does Buchner look? 2. Defensive Starters outside of Cam Hart, Brandon Joseph, Isiah Foskey, and Justin Ademiola. (We have a ton of returning starters, but I want to see where they line up). 3. How do our young Receivers look after a full spring of practice getting starters reps. 4. Top 5 OL. I doubt anything we see in the Spring Game will be set in stone, but I'm curious to see how the staff is leaning.
  14. Dirksen has announced he's leaving the program.
  15. JR Smith is one of the most famous person in college athletics and definitely the most mainstream famous person in non-revenue college athletics. A college athlete being paid by a company for his name, image, and/or likeness is exactly what NIL was intended for. Don't see what your logic is here?
  16. @NDhoosieragree generally, but I'd like to see the floor get higher. Also, Drew Pyne was a 4*, top 250 player so he wasn't some unknown schlub when he committed to ND.
  17. Tyler Buchner was top 100 recruit and I believe top 50 when he committed. Also, Dante Moore is ND's priority and Rees has seen him twice in the last week or so (w/ Freeman going once). It's not like Rees stopped recruiting their top recruit.
  18. Gobaira seems like a huge pain in the butt to play against.
  19. Off topic somewhat, I think you gotta ride with Buchner. Weirdly, I think Buchner will be fine against OSU (tons of prep time, bright lights, etc.) and his struggle game will be against an unexpected opponent we should easily handle. This kind of happened with Malik (KILLED Texas, slow against UVA before his injury), Wimbush came out hot and his passing regressed from there, Dayne played super well against Michigan (until something got in his eye… I.e. probably a concussion), Book came out hot, etc etc etc. hell, even Coan played awesome against FSU then had a mini regression before getting the train back on the track. Maybe Kelly was to blame for QB regression, maybe it was the OCs, maybe it was the playcalling, etc. who knows. My best guess is that Kelly wasn’t a coach who handled adversity/QB struggles well and his response caused our guys to clam up, just my $0.02. hopefully Rees can coach Buchner’s fundamentals up all offseason and then game plan the hell out of Ohio State.
