  1. ROTFLMAO!! Sorry, I thought my sarcasm was pretty obvious on this one folks!
  2. But Belichek, Saban, and Carroll are on the market now. I'm certain we could convince one of them to come. Heck we may even convince Charlie Tuna to come back and OC for BB again...
  3. Don't know either way. It may certainly help because of the expected drop off Bama is inevitably going to have following this. Outside of Georgia, everyone else is probably at least a two loss team in the conference IMO, which could help with playoff spots a bit. Recruiting, we don't typically go head to head with Bama for recruits, at least the ones they really want like Keely. We do shop down a little different isle than them, but Freeman appears to be willing to put in the work to get those top guys we gave up on years past. Additionally the portal and NIL is still evolving and staffs are having to adjust with the knew paradigm, which Freeman and ND seem to be working through. A sure fire way to fill in the gap for us is to keep winning and put kids in the NFL. Saban obviously had a great track record of that and without him those kids are going to spread around for those coaches/teams who can fulfill that role. I don't think we're in danger of losing coaches there. Rees would have been a fool to not jump at the chance to study under Saban even if it was for just one year. Now that he's gone, I don't know that anyone will just jump to Bama unless there's huge piles of cash.
  4. I bet BKs agent is drooling right now to get his contract upped. So many top jobs set to open up. Carroll gone in Seattle, Saban at Bama, possible JH leaves Meatchicken, Oregon may open, rumors of Smart getting NFL looks, Clemson of Dabo comes back to Momma, NFL stuff will open. *Extreme sarcasm alert if you didn't catch it.
  5. And according to some "in the know" we could have had him if we'd have made the effort back in the day. Much respect for the man as a coach.
  6. True. Unlike the previous administration, I have much more faith in Freeman and Co to keep fighting for the kids they want. Also with the portal and NIL, I see there is talk of teams moving away from recruiting the HS ranks as hard and taking less kids. Grabbing college "proven" players from the portal from less prominent school who can't retain star players with their limited NIL funds.
  7. Thing is would they have screwed up JJ and he regresses instead of improving? And yes F* Michigan!!
  8. First time in forever it seems like that there is no SEC team in the championship.
  9. You're right, it was Dasan who was the transfer, forgot where Daeh went. Sure I'd take him if he had everything in order. The older brother DeLand II, was at Miami OH. Apparently no pressure from Deland to have the kids follow him, let's them make their own decision.
  10. Yeah, I don't remember if the staff went hard after him last year, perhaps inside knowledge that ND was not where he wanted to go. I just remember we discussed on the forums that we'd like to get him.
  11. This would be his second transfer and he's a sophomore. From what I gather, one of the hang-ups for undergrads to ND is whether the academics match up to ND standards/expectations etc. I know last year when he transferred out of Indiana, we were hoping he'd land here. If everything is in order, sure why not.
  12. I mentioned before that I had questions about Leonard's arm strength/velocity. I've watched him play a bit the past two seasons. Like the article mentioned, Duke didn't throw downfield a ton, so we are limited in the evaluation. Additionally what's his timing like for downfield shots if he hasn't been asked to do it much? What I do like about his passing is that he is pretty good with the short and intermediate routes. Duke uses a lot of screens, something we didn't do a lot this year at least against stiffer defenses. Hartman had good timing and a penchant for wanting to make deep throws, but if they weren't there he struggled with the shorter routes and screens. Some of our inability to hit the deep throws was because of our WR inability to get open and limited bodies. I hope Denbrock works with Leonard on the deeper stuff. It's not a deal breaker IMO, if he's not proficient though. With the bigger bodies at TE and the WR like Jayden Thomas and Beau Collins, those guys can be reliable to move the chains and make plays for extra yards because of their size. Meanwhile guys like Faison, Greathouse, and the RB can be effective with the quick slants and screens. Leonard obviously is a running threat, so he can roll out and run or pass. Which will be useful with a young OL, rather than staying in the pocket.
  13. This was expected unfortunately. The young man was having difficulties and sat out the beginning of the season. Best of luck to him.
  14. I'm sure he'll make good NIL money next year. One more year to hone his safety skills. Honestly I don't know that he would have been drafted 1st or second round this year, probably 3rd rounder.
  15. Happy for Angeli today. Iron sharpens Iron. No matter what I want a strong QB room, where the next guy in can play if needed and has confidence to do so. The new norm with the portal is keeping your backup QB. We'll see.
  16. What could have been and so close. A deeper WR room and a more experienced HC and OC really made the difference in my mind. We had a playoff caliber D and pretty good special teams. Ten wins is a good benchmark for year two. Lots of young guys got valuable experience on both sides of the ball that will benefit us next year. I think Freeman continued his learning process and will keep getting better running the program. Time will tell, but I agree that the program is trying to adapt to the winds of change, successfully I think, and the school seems to be going along with commitment to the program.
  17. Looked like we had a white boy playing cornerback. When's the last time that happened...
  18. Surprised they didn't have to cart him off the field with those broken ankles.
