While I agree that a young, energetic coach will hopefully take over in the next few years, I personally think we need a few more 10+ win seasons under kelly before we hand the keys to someone else. Say we get 3 more seasons of 10+ wins from Kelly, that would be what 6 in a row? Recruiting will be top 12 over that span, and you have momementum as a year in, year out 10+ win program.... thats when you make the gamble on a young, unexperienced coach to take over. While I no doubt have my serious issues with Kelly, ill never forget the 15 years of below-mediocre teams under the previous 3 coaches... kelly inhereted a mess 15 years in the making... let the next coach inherent a year in, year out 10+ win program and hope he's as good a hire as someone like Dabo (who was a WR coach when hired at Clemson).

Recommend driving across the country to Galway for a few days if you have the time. Just got married this september in the countryside near Galway and the city is much more in lines with what i expected from Irish culture compared to the big Dublin city... or you could fly straight to Shannon and explore the west coast some before heading east to Dublin for the game.

I think young will step up. He didnt play much cause of the guys ahead of him... it's tough coming off the bench cold... I think when hes more involved next year hell be able to get in the groove and make more plays... Man I wish ESB stuck around this year and stepherson didnt screw up... we missed that deep speed threat...

Just join the ACC, beat Clemson in the ACC champ game. Noone will say anything after that... pretty simple, u need to play and beat a tough opponent in the 13th game to not have anyone suggest you dont be long.

Your exactly right. Killer instinct isnt there, and it reflects the head coaches involved... you need someone who can motivate. The last 4 coaches cant.

While I agree with everything you said, it's also sad that the program has fallen to just hoping to play a good game against a top team. Hopefully the next few years we can be the 12 point favorite in a game like this.

Ya gotta believe!!! I feel more confident about keeping it close in this game, then I did going into LSU last year. Give me a few turnovers won, this game can go either way. Let's go!

Dang those two book runs and physical lowering of the shoulder were clutch. Wimbush had a few important runs like that against michiagan too. The one wimbush scramble on 3rd and 18 for the first down..... Woof forgot how fast he is.

Damn that was a great play! I was there, and it was by far the hype-est I've ever seen ND stadium. Great memories.

I almost put that Mack TD down too. Man it was great whooping Standford this year.

What's everyone's favorite play this year? For me, absolutely has to be Dexter's 97 yarder at Virginia Tech. VT is my alma mater, and I've been to many games at Lane stadium. If ND lost that game I would of never heard the end of it from my college buddies. I dont think I've screamed "GO BABY! GO!" Louder in any ND game I've ever watched. And then at the end of the run the VT defender just clipped the back of Dexter's heals it forced him to high step into the endzone which Dex took in stride and made it look buttery. Beautiful play I'll never forget! And my VT buddies has nothing to say. Loved it. Honorable mention : Gillman's 2nd interception in the Syracuse game where he hits the wide receiver and the ball popped up in the air and Gillman picked it off and ran it back 40 yards to set up another score. Just pure athleticism and a player who plays fearlessly. Amazing play. I'd also throw the sequence at VT where Kareem just missed the VT qb and fell to the ground, he gets up and nails the QB who fumbles.... the ball pops right up into Loves hands and he runs it in for a TD. Again my VT buds could say nothing. What's your favorite plays?

Surprised Kelly has agreed to endure this much pressure and get paid so little compared to 63 other coaches ahead of him.

Kelly's pay is nothing compared to top program coaches.... ND is greedy and is OK paying nothing for coaches. Until that changes, ND won't attract top coaches. Where does all the money from home games go? Stadium renovations? It's pathetic ND's administration is that greedy. Another thing too, time to lower academic standards for athletes. As a fan, I really don't care about being #1 in graduation rates... I want the team to be #1 on the field. My brothers, who graduated from ND disagree with me on that, but I'm a fan, that's it, I want to win on the field. We are at a serious disadvantage here.... Texas A and M just fired Sumlin... The buyout is 10 million and has to be paid in 60 days... It isn't reduced if he takes a job elsewhere. Yet they still are doing it because they want to win...

Exactly, not his fault players sold memorabilia for tatoos.... Kelly's players have done arguably worse things (for example assaulting police officers...) He was like 100-22 at OSU, several BCS wins, a NC, and had them finish in the top 5 7 of his last 9 years there.... He would immidately dominate recruiting for us and he'd be the biggest hire ND has had in decades. Other teams would have that same sinking feeling that we had when OSU hired Urban Meyer, that "dammit, there going to be dominate again" feeling. Make sense to me. But again, ND isn't serious so it'll never happen.

If ND were serious about having a legit football program (which they obviously are not and never will be...), they'd throw whatever money it takes to get Jim Tressel or Bob Stoops... hell even les Miles.... But again they aren't serious so point is moot.

If they do a Death Penalty(which I don't think is going to happen) they would deff let all the players transfer similar to what they did with SMU back in the 80's. So yes I guess that is "sweet" for the players, but not for a lot of them. A lot of these kids grew up HUGE PSU fans and dreamed of playing for PSU. To take that away from them is unfair in my opinion.
