  1. Absolute shit show! I defended Rees and others saying BK was holding them back. I have to admit now he was propping them up. Why not go to the freshman and take your chances? Pyne is a deer in headlights even if he gets somewhat back together
  2. I don't understand all the hate right now on the team or staff. All of us who have watched this program the last ten years have seen poor recruiting and/or development at wide receiver and QB. This was Buchner's first real start in a huge stadium against the fastest team in the B1G. People need to realize that Ohio State is probably the only northern team with the speed to run with Bama or Georgia. Also, this was the first start for this whole staff together. We were in this game into the 4th quarter and had a real chance. Our corners have to improve if we are to compete at the top levels and we desperately need a couple of receivers to breakthrough and give us big play threats. Also, I love our running back and we just need to block for them to get them running to their potential. We have a get right game now and a good run of opponents to get us ready for Clemson later in the year. We will be fine!
  3. I wanted to sleep on it and let emotions from the game settle before commenting. Overall I was pretty happy with what I seen except a couple fixable things. We need to remember we had a young QB getting his first real start on the road in one of the loudest stadiums against a top 5 opponent. 1. The line did not play well and in particular the interior not picking up guys. This can be fixed and have no doubt it will be. 2. The defense played much better and faster then I have seen in recent years. Our weakness is getting home on pass rush and corners that can cover. The entire Kelly era we could not get top tier corners so the coaches need to change that and recruit better. 3. I really love the two tight end sets and want to see more of that but take advantage of the mismatches more. Everyone in the stadium including the defense knew they would force feed Mayer. Have to get Styles catching the ball in space as he is the only receiver still available that showed flashes of being dynamic last year. 4. The run game has to improve and the ability to get a first down when 3rd and 4 or less. This will get better I am sure Overall, I was not happy with a loss but definitely feel good about what I seen as a whole. The offense gets hammered for being vanilla and not producing but we overlook what the young guys were facing on the road in a hostile enviornment. Missing on recruits is still showing whether its lack of top tier wide receivers or corners but can be coached to be better. This season I think we are a solid top 10 team but I was not expecting us to be top 5 at all. We need to watch the season and see these coaches and players both improve. These guys just need to get experience together and embrace the coaches recruiting like we have not seen in last several years and growing the program.
  4. I was at the game and it was most crowded I've seen it for a spring game. The weather was awesome but a little windy for kickers but perfect for fans. As far as the game itself the running backs looked great especially the young guys. The passing game looked sad as Pyne missed guys by a mile several times. The best plays were Lindsay on a jet sweep or some of the runs. The passing game was not impressive and a few that he did complete should have been blown dead before the release. Not sure if we should be excited about the defense more then cautious about the passing game. I will say we have a great D-line and Mills will be a beast this year. The linebackers can really move and Marist Liufau will be awesome this year
  5. While I have been on the switch to Buchner band wagon I will say that they all will have struggles. The line seems to not look as bad when we have a QB in who can shift the pocket or roll out quickly which Coan clearly can't do. However, I am seeing a lot of routes where the receievers are not getting open or good separation. If Coan is going to be the guy then play calling has to change to a quick passing game. If he holds it longer then two seconds he is going to get hit. While I will concede he holds the ball to much you also have to admit the play calling is not getting the ball out quick enough. I am for going to one of the young guys purely to get their experience level up. If some how BK gets 10 wins this season then it would be a heck of a job between the roster turnover, new D system, and a tough schedule.
  6. Defense is still weak against the run and big plays. O-line is really bad compared to past groups
  7. Vanilla or not the QB situation looks bad. The tight ends and running backs look like they have a ton of upside.
  8. I don't see BK getting fired but I'm hopeful. If I were going for a coach there are two that really interest me. My first choice is Matt Rhule from Temple and second is Whittingham from Utah. I really like Rhule and how he's developed what little talent he has at Temple
  9. You guys are hilarious thinking Tom Herman would even look at ND over Houston. Money is already comparable there and the recruiting is so much easier with location and logistics. The only guy mentioned in this entire thread thatis any chance is Sanford. I love Notre Dame football but it's not the elite job it once was. The university still won't compete money wise with OSU, Texas, USC, or SEC schools with total analysts and assistants in the program to make it better.
  10. I always laugh when I see people post how we need this guy or that former guy to be head coach. There aren't many good options out there that would actually take the Notre Dame job. It is not the prize it once was when so many schools offer much better assistance to coaches both financially and logistically. We have Brian Kelly and I'm OK with that but a move at OC would be nice with placing Sanford in that spot to interject both youth and possibly innovation into the offense. The DC at LSU is unlikely to be going anywhere but I'd be all for it if he was available.
  11. I love Notre Dame and wait every year for football Saturday. I watch but I can say it's not as big of a thing for me to miss a game when the coaching is so pathetic. The talent seems to be there just in all the wrong places. I applaud Kelly for fixing the Week era it it's time to move on. I'd at least like to see Sanford get the OC job and get rid of both coordinators
  12. Any player projected guaranteed first round SHOULD go. You go to college to better your life and get a career. First round draft picks are guaranteed millions and the smart decision. That being said he's prototype QB but still not proven he is number 1 QB but definitely in consideration. In my opinion this is a weak year overall for QB in the draft
  13. I realize I'm just an average fan but why do we not spread the field and throw the ball? Kizer is the first legit passing QB Kelly has had since Tony Pike yet he will not run that fast Cincy offense that got him here
  14. BVG is dreadful as a DC. At least Morgan and Rochelle are playing great. Please for all things holy leave Kizer in the game
  15. Offense is exciting but until they get rid of the DC this team will not take the final step. Some of these blitzes are slow and out of place but the secondary is pathetic
