    A win over a 7th-ranked media darling team will grab headlines everywhere. It would be a huge psychological boost to an ND team that knows it has something to prove. ND would move up to 7 probably. That’s all pretty major stuff. I’m confident no one who participates in polls wants to rank highly an ND team that keeps getting destroyed in big bowl and playoff games, but when you are already inside the top 10 and beat a team ranked ahead of you, it definitely is adding some street-cred to your ranking.

    While I understand and completely appreciate ND continuing to pursue Howard, I wonder what implications this pursuit has regarding Angeli. I thought Howard’s trip was not an official visit but rather on his own dime(?).

    It’s fun to see innovative offenses. I thought Arkansas and West Virginia showed a lot yesterday. I’d like to see TR do a little more, and I’d love to see him design and call plays that use the tight ends more often. The team has been winning, and it’s hard to argue with success. I’ll just start taking antacids and nitroglycerin before and during games. The games have really stressed me.

    True. But, I’ll also always remember where this program was before he arrived. It’s too bad that the schedule over the next few years is almost prohibitive for winning a natty. I think he’s getting the best players now that ND has had since Lou, before they had the scholastic requirements of today.

    ND saw it’s home sellout streak end for the Navy game in 2019 after 273 games. It used to be hard to get tickets to home games. It’s not hard at all this year. Heck, plenty of tickets are still available for the Cincinnati, USC, and UNC games ( UND.Com ). Why is that? Is it COVID? Ticket prices?

    ND has big play potential on offense on every play. The defense may be pretty darned good. Improved team depth is already showing. They’ll be erecting a Kyle Hamilton statue outside the stadium before the year ends.

    The Penn State white out is one of the great spectacles in college football.

    Put in a stout 4 man front and quit relying on the 3 man front with blitzes. I'm not a fan of what’s happening coaching-wise on either side of the ball.

    Goodness. The offense clicks when throwing short. They struggle (and that’s a kind word) when they throw long. Which seems like every play. Why does our all-world tight end disappear during the middle of the game?

    I think Coan is a good quarterback. He’s just asked to do the wrong things. The offense works differently, more efficiently, and better when Buchner is in. For goodness sake, put in Buchner.

    Please put Buchner in. And please call something other than a Buchner run on first down.

    Why would you put in Coan for that play? I don’t get it. Buchner has to be accounted for. You just needed 3 yards.

    Quit. Throwing. Down. Field. Throw short and quick. Don’t throw 25 yards downfield on 3rd and 5. Not. Enough. Time.

    Hmmm. Maybe not the tight end, but 6 yards over the middle. Touchdown. Those are the plays ND needs to run when Coan is in the game. Short passes over the middle. Quick plays.

    Tommy seems to send all receivers long on every play. No time for the play to develop. What ever happened to the tight end over the middle for 8 yards play? If Buchner isn’t in on the next series I think the Boilers will win handily.
