DL Gabe Rubio not listed on Notre Dame football spring roster - InsideNDSports (rivals.com)
QuoteNotre Dame football defensive lineman Gabe Rubio is not currently listed on the 2024 roster heading into the spring, and it's not an oversight.
According to a Notre Dame spokesperson, Inside ND Sports was told Rubio is stepping away to attend to some personal matters.
The senior-to-be is not in the transfer portal and can rejoin Notre Dame for the 2024 season, but that is not definite yet.

Not sure I would put Jayden Thomas a breakout player....comeback player perhaps. I think he broke out two years ago....then was derailed this year.

Thanks, Faith. Good info. That's a little surprising on Collins and Heard because I figured there was some rule that a student-athlete had to be enrolled in the school to participate in athletics.
To play in games of course but the only thing I can add is CJ Carr participating in Sun Bowl practices prior to his enrollment this week.

ND currently 4 players over the limit.

I love hearing this, but I have to be honest.... the video they attached is not very good at demonstrating how special and gifted he is.
Agreed....I watched it and yawned.

Burgess still keeping things close to the vest. No change to any recruiting site's predictions including a lack of 247 crystal balls.
I like it. Honestly a kid who can keep things close is my kind of guy. Wherever he ends up the ability to stay grounded and keep calm is a good trait. Hopefully he is Irish.

I was reading an article on ESPN about best fits for the portal QBs and it mentioned that Riley has "multiple years of eligibility"....here I was thinking it was one and done. Looks like he could be around for 2 years?
Riley Leonard has played in three seasons. They are 2021 - 7 games, 2022 - 13 games and 2023 - 7 games. He has one year left and does not qualify for the Covid waiver..

Yes. Seems like it will be announced in the coming days.
Tom Loy still thinks it is going to happen but says Ohio State and Auburn pushing.

ND will have no issues getting under the 85-player limit.
There will be many more transfers out, probably at least 10 more - some in this first transfer window and some after spring practice when players find out where they stand on the depth chart.
In addition to Leonard, Mitchell, and Clark. I expect ND to land another WR, maybe an OT, maybe a TE, at least one DL (maybe 2), maybe LB (depending on if Kiser comes back), one safety, and one kicker.
ND will likely add between 8-10 transfers when all is said and done.
So by this math ND will need to lose close to 30 players to NFL / exhausting eligibility, transfer or medical? I.E. 15-21 more than we know about already?

Portal is now open until January 2nd. When will we start seeing confirmations of players committing to ND?

I truly have a hard time when someone says 'OSU'. ND is playing OSU in the Sun Bowl. OSU lost to Texas in the Big 12 championship. OSU lost to Michigan in the Big 10 championship. Too many OSU's to keep up with.
But of course, there's only 1 ND.
Tell that to North Dakota.....

Parker is the elephant in the room. There isnt one intelligent football analyst who believed he would be retained.
Also you see the tweet by brady quinn? He was ticked that stuckey was fired.
Its early days. I do not think its guaranteed at all that Parker is the offensive coordinator at ND next year.

I am honestly treating the bowl game like the first game on next season / tryout. Don't much care in the traditional way of winning out the season....more of I hope we see some young guys we can then dream will become stars all winter and spring...

Zzzzzzzzzzzz........wake me up please.......somebody.....anybody..........we need a commit or two!

You have to consider it, especially if you do not think that Minchey or Angeli are capable starters next year. If you think one of them can be a capable starter, and also believe that Carr "could" be better than you likely do not seek a starter via transfer. If you think neither of the two incumbents could start next year then regardless of what you think of Carr you go find someone.

Did Justin Scott visit ND for the Ohio State game?

Any idea how many verbal recruits we had by mid / late September for the 2024 class this time last year? We currently have three 2025 recruits so just curious if we are on par, behind, ahead? I know it does not matter until signing day...and sometimes after signing day and that schools such as Alabama tend to get their verbal commitments late but 3 seems to me a little light.

Do we have a list of visitors for the OSU game?
-
I have been to 15 - 18 games.....went twice a year sometimes and once a year for sure for an 8 year stretch plus some games when I was younger with my Dad. Live in Canada so its a commitment...tickets, hotel, food, hours driving but love it. Have not been since Covid and currently hoping to make it back this year. Perhaps even for Ohio State. Go Irish!
