  1. Didn't see it mentioned here, but Wiltfong is calling it to FSU... https://twitter.com/SWiltfong247/status/530374005526503426
  2. got this from a buddy, certainly calls the source article into question.. http://davidpurdumsports.com/2013/06/11/what-happened-when-i-tried-to-interview-incarcerated-bob/
  3. quick search of twitter and you can see that these two clearly know each other fairly well. it's hard to tell if it goes beyond that via twitter but makes the story seem more plausible. even if this amounts to nothing, it's nice to know that Jimbo has one more thing to keep him awake at night. also, can't think this will go over well in the locker room.
  4. I agree that he's phenomenal and easily the best talent we've recruited at the position since Golson. I also totally get the comparisons. I will say, though, that I compared his HS tape to Golson's and still came away thinking Golson was a noticeably advanced passer compared to Wimbush. I'm by no means a pro at breaking down film but Golson's tape was just phenomenal. How he failed to get 5 stars (or recruited by more programs) is beyond me. Either way, Henry is an epic talent and I completely agree that Wimbush is as well. Henry or no Henry, the staff is on a tear with QB recruiting and, assuming Golson returns next year, the table is set for many years of offensive production.
  5. This probably doesn't mean much (because they probably know as much as we do) but, from the FSU site .... http://www.tomahawknation.com/2014/11/5/7163727/florida-state-recruiting-malik-henry-sets-decision-date This is a really good site, by the way.
  6. this will probably come across like a CYA (or, rather, CHA) move, but it's been covered here before and all seem to agree, even mods at the premium sites, that none of big's information is lifted from premium sources. he may gather info from the big recruiting sites but it's only on their free articles. Big, feel free to correct me if i'm wrong.
  7. while there can be no certainties with this committee given they are A) new and B) stupid, I am with corysold here. there are certainly scenarios where an OSU could leap ND if both win, but those are much more the outliers. Leaping 10 spots (more than halfway to number one), not to mention two teams that would have been ranked right behind MSU, is a tough sell. Oddly enough, OSU actually finds themselves in a sympathetic position with us.
  8. Not trying to call you out but did i miss something? i see the quote from mom but the tone of this post makes it sound like a done deal. i saw on here last week that 247's lsu mode basically said tillery was locked and loaded to nd. just want to know if there is something beyond mom's quote or you are just talking to the potential of him flipping.
  9. Without a doubt, this hurts the defense. Just like losing a center, the MLB is a big deal and layering on BVG's defense which is more sophisticated than the average defense, there's no getting around the fact that losing Schmidt is a loss that we can't fully compensate for. HOWEVER, Morgan is truly special. Physically, he can do things that Schmidt just will never be capable of. Putting him next to Jaylon, our LB corps has a lot more horsepower for BVG to work with. My hope is that he can do what Schmidt was less capable of and destroy a drive or two simply by blowing up a 1st or 2nd down play. If we get that out of him, we can live with the inevitable mistakes that are going to come from trotting out a true freshman. I will say, this sets us up beautifully for next year, presuming Schmidt can recover in time for next season (which shouldn't be a problem). Also, hot dawg!!! I knew Morgan was a beast, I just didn't realize how much of a beast he was. I'm really looking forward to watching him the rest of the year.
  10. our defensive efficiency has been as good (or better) than MSU, Bama and LSU. Try harder.
  11. Rather than comment on morgan, I'll just thank Joe for a tremendous performance this year. That a walk-on that was still being questioned two weeks into the season has generated this much angst upon his loss speaks volumes for his importance to the team. Focus on rehab and come back stronger next year!
  12. Well, I really don't care what the cfb world thinks, i guess. I'm happy to be a team that, for the second time in the past three seasons, has hit the halfway mark with a top-10 record. Lots of hand-wringing about how disappointing this season has been. I just haven't forgotten how the 'cfb world' wrote us off before the season began and how this all just seems like gravy, then.
  13. Personally, I think it was the drive for their first points at the end of the 2nd. They had a pass to o'leary underneath the zone that went for a nice gain. FSU started doing a lot of that, which then brought coverage back in, FSU took the top off the defense and was never really threatened from there. Just my take I (and i could be incorrect on if that's when the o'leary pass happened).
  14. Yeah, i don't get the sentiment. In the game that I saw, FSU was clearly the better team. UL was fortunate to catch them napping a bit early in the game and took advantage of some poor throws, but FSU countered by bringing receivers into the middle of the field after the LB's cleared out and UL. UL never had a counter for it and then their scheme of sending everybody deep started to fall apart once they got rattled. Without a doubt, UL can give us game but they were not a team that is 21 points better than FSU. They're not a team that's better than FSU. I came away very impressed with FSU and feeling like it legitimized us a bit more. That team is not nearly as good as last year's but is still pretty f'ing good.
  15. Listen, this will all come out in the wash. The CFSC has a long way to go before they are legitimized. If they continue to pimp the SEC at every opportunity and ignore details like what's been listed above or polls, or whatever, they will go the way of the Edsel. That won't be comfort to us this year but it will sort itself out. At the end of the day, the CFSC has to satisfy the general public's desire for a durable, fair process. If they can't do that, they'll go the way of the dodo.
  16. checking their board, they have us at #12 with 21 commits. So, this is based on the latest and greatest.
  17. That would certainly be the ideal, if you could pick anyone of them. It eliminates our greatest 1-loss threat (ignoring SEC) and boosts our SOS, all in one fell swoop.
  18. yeah, but it was the icing that got him so excited that a change of pants was in order
  19. 17 carries for 86 yards yesterday. About as supportive a public endorsement you can get from billy no-sleeves and lots of buzz that he has the big back role in that offense. All in all, last week was a good week for Jonas. For those of you that didn't watch, he had a solid game. Still needs to get a better feel for the flow on offense but still managed a lot of positive carries and brought a thumper's mentality into the hole every time he arrived. Thank goodness BK got a hold of him and got him away from trying to be a tap-dancer. He has the look of solid NFL workhorse.
  20. The class is light on 'star power' (read, five stars) but every player in it is good. Where this class stands out against others from the past 10 years is that it's officially reached the "only blue chips get in" point and we are legitimately in on 5-10 marquee blue chippers. I can't recall a point where we didn't need a wing and a prayer to get that one blue chipper down the stretch to make our class. Even without blue chippers, this class is one that you build a program around as it hits all the right notes. Not landing an RB and a S would leave this class short of filling all areas of need but the staff has done an excellent job of ensuring we're in the best spot possible to avoid letting that happen. The other classes of note over the past 10 years are (in chronological order) 2013 2011 2008 2007 2006 This technically ranks behind only '13 in terms of avg star rating (composite). However, some of Chaz's classes were waited down by real poor lowend talent that dilutes that number. Personally, I'd put this behind 2011 (go back and look at that one, duh-amn) and about even with 2008 (which also looks like a killer class but obviously fell short of expectations). 2013 was very special but also small. IMHO, only '11 managed to cover as many bases and it brought in better frontline talent. Plus, it killed it at areas of immediate need (Dline, Oline, QB, etc.). '07 is probably the only other class in the conversation but it had issues at positions like LB, had bigger reaches (gallup jr) and was smaller. Plus, it gets knocked for the terrible Aurrelious Benn saga which kinda emasculated it IMHO. hope this helps.
  21. as with everything, it's all relative. But, both of those guys provide experienced depth at a position that's still a good bit young and/or thin. Farley has made an impact this year, so I don't get why you turn that away. Not to mention, a team looking to make a deep run next year needs all the leadership it can get. KLM is a shining example of the huge impact an experienced 5th year can make as he was indispensable to that defense and, imho, the defense the years after. I get that we want as many young talented players we can get but how much of that should be at the expense of being competitive. Even on a two-deep, Farley improves your chances next year more than all but the best blue chippers.
  22. As for the original post, I don't see how you let Daniels walk if there is an option he comes back. He's the only guy (short of maybe an unproven Justin XXX) with legit NFL measurables. Additionally, he's shown on a number of occasions that he can translate those into production. Just because we've had some very nice production out of our receivers doesn't mean that you pass up a legit physical monster. Have Daniels last week and you win the game as you take away FSU's ability to jam our slight receivers, lay off our less polished ones or put a safety on robinson. Think about it, robinson caught two of our TD's, which wasn't an accident. ... Daniels is faster and stronger. Maybe if it's him versus a blue chip freak, you don't do it but even then I'd personally think you have to grab the player that makes a legitimate difference now.
  23. I know! the one on the right's not so bad either.
