  1. Agree with your assessment (meh). Good, but not great coach. Wondering if he is past his prime and really has it in him to turn around a team like Chicago. I wish him well in his endeavors. That being said, as a born and bred Packer fan, I think this is a great hire. I see the NFC North as a battle between Green Bay and Detroit for the near future, with Minnesota rising, and Chicago bringing up the ranks.
  2. Ummm... Lack of scruples on the part of FSU. Nothing new for them. If they don't suspend him it will become very big dumpster fire. However I don't expect him to do anything about it at least until after the ND game.
  3. Methinks the endowment wins as the biggest money maker for the school.... It garnered $1.5 Billion in one year, but it can't take any money out until it turns 65. http://news.nd.edu/news/50617-notre-dame-endowment-returns-19-7-percent-for-fiscal-year-2014/
  4. Calling it! I know there's some grousing going on now, but just wondering how many games into the season before the talk gets serious..... On the other hand, the schedule is pretty weak, so they may end up with a decent record despite being mediocre: Miami (Oh) Utah Minnesota Rutgers Penn State Michigan State Indiana Northwestern Maryland Ohio State Forgive the pun, but we'd be crucified if we played such a lousy schedule.
  5. Cleveland does not carry the cache' of Miami, for sure. I give props to LeBron for "going home". However, from personal experience, I would never move back there. Spent a lifetime one year in Cleveland.
  6. Always good to see guys coming back to finish up getting their degree. A lot of schools probably never see their early draftees come back. http://espn.go.com/blog/notre-dame-football/post/_/id/20898/ricky-watters-finishing-what-he-started
  7. I moved to the Raleigh area about 4 years ago. I'm pumped that ND will be playing ACC teams locally. Gives me a chance to go experience different stadiums and traditions. I love ND Stadium any given Saturday, but with the price of admission, questionable weather, long drawn out games due to TV timeouts, Quiet crowds and the opportunity to experience something new, I'll opt for the game in an ACC venue. Saddened by the fact that my kids will never know ND football the way I did. I used to feel that the stadium was "intimate" when only 59,075 were in it. Now, not so much.
  8. Tell me why I should care about what the NFL (NFL.com) cares about college coaches.... Coaching int the NFL is a whole different animal than coaching in college. How did Saban fare in his foray into the NFL? Um. Not well. Fail. How did Spurrier do? Fail. If I were an owner in the NFL, I'd be searching the ranks of coordinators long before I'd start sniffing around any college coaches. I could be wrong and someone can do the math, but I'm guessing it's pretty rare that a college coach succeeds in the NFL as a HC. Jimmy Johnson is the only one coming to mind. And Barry Switzer doesn't count. Pete Carroll is a NFL coach, forced into the college ranks. Chip Kelly? One season does not a career make. I'm thinking he will end up being a bust in the NFL.
  9. My sources told me that was going to be the ND Logo interlocking with the NBC Logo.
  10. That Samardzija video was awesome! Nice job, guys. The guy was fun to watch, deceptively fast and went and got balls (you know what I mean). Hopefully, we will see something like that this year. It's a shame we didn't see him in the NFL. I don't know if he would've done well or not, but he was a blast to behold while beasting for the Irish.
  11. App State is now FBS! Made the big leap either this year or last! Hoping to see them more often on the Wolverines schedule in the future.
