The role of the QB run game in 2024?
NDLincPark replied to FaithInIrish Forever's topic in Notre Dame Football
The last time you did a running QB deep dive, you graded Buchner as like a 91 overall with All American potential as a difference making dual threat. And now he doesn't even play the sport of football any more collegiately. Lets just state the obvious; your Deep Dives are about as accurate as a covid test. -
No one is saying you cant 'celebrate the win' But, it would be very short-sided, and frankly dumb, to use any of the game tape as meaningful. It was an exhibition scrimmage type game - just like last years bowl
-
You guys are basing Angeli's competence off of a single scrimmage/exhibition game- just stop

Cackling at the deluded irish 'Fans' (they are not fans, they are homer morons) anointing 3 star noodle arm Angeli to be THE GUY for ND moving forward , after an exhibition game Only ND fans -
How delusional do you have to be to declare a Qb to have the 'It Factor' after he played in ONE glorified scrimmage in a meaningless exhibition game? You idiots did this last year w Buchner, and he is so awful, he doesn't even play football anymore, lol How desperate are you guys to always look like foolish and incompetent ND football fans?

Incoming Player Transfers (2023-24)
NDLincPark replied to NYGoldenDomer's topic in Notre Dame Football
I don't see how Leonard is an upgrade over Hartman. Hartman was a top 5 or 10 D1 qb at wake in 2022. Leonard was around the 145th top rated qb this year in his healthy games. And threw 3 touchdowns in 6 games -

I could not agree more. Eventually, they have to commit to youth. They have been punting on this for 15 years, and Kelly was unable to ever sell a top tier QB recruit to come in, take the reins from day 1, and run the program into a natty window for 3 years. If this Portal causes Minchey or Carr to attrit, then it wasnt worth it, IMO -

Ehh, next year they can go 8-3 with Leonard, or 8-3 with Carr, then be set up for a 2025 title run w a High upside Sophomore ready to roll w a year of experience, skill player recruits, etc. This move is like painting your bathroom tile. Looks ok from afar, but itll likely end up costing more in the long run. -
The transfer portal was introduced in 2018, then augmented in 2020 w covid. Of course people left colleges all of the time prior to the Portal, but it was nowhere near as common or easy. I am not sure what you are arguing, are you saying the portal has had no impact on players transferring more?
-
Because other students are not getting a 245K free education based on playing a sport?
-
Yeah - they gotta limit this. And, the portal opens 2x per year? So, in a collegiate players 4 year career, they would conceivably have 7 times in their college windows to transfer. Crazy
-
Drew Pyne has 3 more years of eligibility left, 2024, 2025 and 2026. And he is back in the portal leaving ASU I have no idea how that is even possible. I guess covid and 2 medical years? He could be 27 years old playing college football in 2026 - Insanity. How bad was the QB room at ND last year? Jesus

Incoming Player Transfers (2023-24)
NDLincPark replied to NYGoldenDomer's topic in Notre Dame Football
There were 216 players in CFB to have more than 484 receiving yards this year; just because ND has abysmal pass catching skill players currently, does not mean im going to bet against common sense. To be fair, it is really embarrassing that Tyree was their leading pass catcher. Imagine what it would have been w Pyne or Buchner, lordy -
Players should all have to be at their initial school for 2 years prior to transferring. And they should get one transfer, if the choose to do so, and that is it. They desperately need to put up some guardrails on this fiasco

Good catch on the ARK game, one power 5. I doubt he does much vs 3x the sustained competition tho. -

Mitchell played in the CUSA. With the best team being Liberty. This is not a lateral move for him; FIU did not play a single power 5 team all season. Guys that hit .280 and OPS .800 in AAA dont jump to the majors and suddenly hit the same/better -

Why use their career numbers, when they will only be here for 1 season? Of Course they have aggregate production, they have played in 7 combined seasons already (3 For Collins and 4 for Mitchell). Next year, they will likely account for around 1200 yards and 6 TDs combined. They are definitely not WR1 game changer type additions. -

Maybe he is right? ND loves to make lateral, status quo moves that keep them safely in top 13 -22 rankings -

Yes - I checked your posts from the gator Bowl last year - You had some gems "he'll be someone elses starter soon if he doesn't play, and thats fine." "good problem 2 have, rather have 2 qbs than 0 but Buchner just showed the nation he's nobody's backup." "If you over 300 total yards in a Bowl Game at ND that the nation sees. That is your business card to transfer to alot of QB needy teams if you want to." -

Looking forward to the avg ND fans overreactions from this glorified scrimmage. Just like last year, when the fanboys were in awe with buchners Tax Slayers performance (He threw 3 INTS too). Fans were thinking he'd be a Heisman finalist in 2023. Now he just plays lacrosse. LOL -

Lol, is this English? 'You sound butt hurt that someone you like, but who is considered woefully inadequate by the staff who sees that person on a daily basis, is not starting instead.' You definitely did not go to ND - this makes no sense. -

I wonder if the ND Student and Fan Sections are going to cry and oddly worship a weird 'Thank you tribute' montage video for Leonard, like they did with Hartman, when they go 8-3 next year, miss the 12 team playoffs, and play Tulane in the Dukes Mayo Bowl. -

People acting like Dukes Riley Leonard is the incoming version of Caleb Williams, LOL He threw 3 touchdowns in 6 games this year, and was the 150th rated QB in College Football. Playing 3 of the worst D1 football programs in the nation as well. Prior to injury
