I'm high on the OL in general with a whole offseason with Harry. Wasn't crazy about the iOL at all this season. I think Harry will find the nastiest G-C-G group by August, and we'll see improvement. Won't be shocked if someone transfers, feelings are hurt, etc.. lol... Won't be shocked if position swaps happen (T to iOL). And wouldn't be shocked if Schrauth makes noise after a full offseason with S&C. Overall, my guess is that the OL has a new "tude" in 23... And that only helps Hartman (and O)...

Yup. Not really a big fan of his pure accuracy though. He's made nice improvements the last 2 years, so hoping his completion % takes a nice jump with improved talent at ND.

Transfer Portal: Noteworthy Players from Other Schools

Yup. Only rumors though (about Howard). Regardless, very happy with Hartman in 23, and Carr coming up in 24. Minchey could be a nice surprise too. And LSU's QB room was considered a mess before the season, but BK did a nice job turning it around. Daniels was a great surprise. -
IMO, Hartman is the most well rounded QB that Rees has had. Not elite, but less big holes in his game. Should allow Rees to do more. Hope Rees and Hartman share an house in the offseason lol... Not expecting a ton from the true frosh WRs, but wouldn't be shocked if one did emerge. And we have enough to look better. I'd love to add one more WR via transfer.

Talked to a few LSU fans. Neither were shocked. Both said he couldn't beat out for Nussameier for the QB2 spot. And the one that follows LSU closest, he was unhappy about Daniels returning. I guess the kid thought he would be a early starter (even as a frosh, but at least in year 2). In short, Daniels is the clear returning starter in 23, Nussameier QB2, and two new 4 star kids, one locked for 23 (early entry), and the other committed for 24. ND went after Howard late in cycle, but doubt ND is in play. Both guys said TAMU is a player. They also wouldn't be surprised if the FL schools (Gators, Miami, or FSU) was a player. -

I agree. Just providing the history. Bama has an embarrassment of riches every year. Some very good talent simply won't play... Portal certainly has both pros and cons. Just wish ND could take advantage of the portal like other schools can. -
ND needs to develop WRs, no doubt. And Hartman will help in that area. But ND will always have good TEs, and use them. And IMO, Evans will emerge and be a stud. But I agree, I don't want TE as the #1 option every game, all season...

Just to add... Trey Sanders (the latest) - RB - from 2019 class. Never really became the #1 RB for Bama in 3 years. Would start for most other P5 schools. JoJo Earl - WR - from 21 class. Got passed by younger guys. Tommy Brockermeyer - OT - from the 21 class too, and also passed by younger guys. IIRC, 6 Bama players total in the portal. But most, if not all, were all passed. But several were very high rated (out of HS). -
Hartman to Evans... a lot in 23...

I have a hard time keeping track when I don't focus lol... I watch a lot of stuff when I work around the house on weekends and evenings. Especially when I do big-cookin'... I think it's why I'm fuzzy on S2... I remember S1 well, but only remember S2 was in the Venezuela and had Noomi. So re-watching S2 with half focus to catch up, and will focus on S3 this weekend. I'm happy to re-watch Noomi lol... I'm stoked to watch the latest season of Succession and Fauda too. Fauda comes out next week (Netflix). Have been following Echo 3 too. Pretty good show.

LOL. Nah, just tired of mediocre QBs here at ND. We are overdue.

I'm a harder grader... I'd give Hartman 90. could be 95 with improved talent (ND vs Wake). Buchner 80ish. Pyne 80ish. Angeli - won't even grade lol... not saying he's bad. Just doesn't has a pedigree, and tape isn't incredible. Minchey 85+, which is a total guess.

I'm not big on frosh impact in 23, but agree, James and Gray are my candidates. Really either WR, or even Smith (VT transfer) might create chemistry with Hartman. On D, doubt any front 7 make an impact. Perhaps one of the DBs. Gray best candidate, but maybe one of the Ss. If Love played on D, he'd be my fav.
-
Great kid. Might not be elite, but smart kid, and hard worker. Great for the DB rotation.

IMO, the UGA D has been all over the place. So hard to relax. UGA DB isn't as good (vs past years), but front 7 is still a handful. In short, need adjustment (both TCU's O and D). I have a feeling TCU will need to go backyard football. If UGA scores again, might be over... I don't want to hear "Go Dawgs" (even more) for another year lol. Need TCU's D to step and get a turnover.

What we learned- ND vs South Carolina
OKelleyIrish replied to ndomer4's topic in Notre Dame Football
I love the history when it comes to Navy, but hate the game lol... Hated all the injuries from the game (better now with rule changes) in the past, and still hate the unique prep. Just do whatever we can to minimize the impact. I like Hartman much better than Buchner. Wouldn't call Hartman elite, but a level or two higher than Buchner. Both Pyne and Buchner were limited in different ways, and big different holes in their games. Hartman is much more well rounded, and less holes. In short, our O will be less limited, and Rees can do more. Big year for Rees IMO, and ND's rank should rise (pre-season).
