  1. I wish I had the same confidence as some of you. BC has beaten one FBS team all season. That game was embarrassing. The Wake Forest game was not much better. We should have crushed Temple but didn't. Perhaps I'm being overly negative but I don't think I am. I think OU and one of the Big Ten schools jumps ND and I don't think we would have all that much to complain about. The one thing that we have in our corner is the ratings and revenue that no other team can bring to the table. As far as the football goes, I don't think we are proving to anybody that we belong in the final four. I realize that aside from Bama and Clemson, nobody has been terribly impressive but I don't think that means that we deserve it. It might just mean that we are as deserving as any of a number of second tier teams. At the end of the day, we just have to beat Stanford and let the chips fall where they will but I am losing confidence each week in this team.
  2. I think Harbaugh is going to have his guys ready to close out the season. I'd put money on the skunks to take that one.
  3. I saw that Herbstreit had ND moving down to 6 with Oklahoma State at 4 and Oklahoma moving into the 5 spot.
  4. Allow me to beat a dead horse: I just want to put it out there that the poster that found the title of this thread to be so unforgivable started a thread of his own yesterday in the open forum. The title of that thread? (drumroll please.....) "Looks like..." Dare I say that title had even less substance than "Navy"????
  5. Slack jaw? Nice. Why did you open the thread if its title didn't adequately describe its topic? Just so you could be a jerk about something so trivial? What a ridiculous complaint.
  6. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching Navy play elite level football this season. Aside from ND, nobody has even given them much of a challenge at all this season. I really hope that they hand Houston their first loss of the season on 11/27. I think it was during the CFB rankings show last week that David Pollack said something to the effect of "ND looks good but who is their best win? Navy?" On the same show he was giving Memphis huge credit for a two touchdown win over Ole Miss. And then Navy goes on to smash Memphis. I'll tell you what: Navy is for real and I love it! I hope they continue to do what they've been doing all season long and everybody will have to come to face the fact that we've known for years: Navy is far from a pushover!
  7. I realize that but they absolutely manhandled Wisconsin in the Big 10 conference championship game the week of the final rankings. Teams that play in a conference champ game are far more likely to move up at the end of the season. ND will not have that extra game against a quality opponent on their resume. They are left with games against Stanford and Pitt to really impress the committee. Even with impressive wins against both of those opponents, I don't see them being able to make up enough ground to overtake any one-loss conference champion from a power 5. If Stanford beats all of their remaining opponents and wins the PAC-12, then maybe ND gets in but I just don't think it will happen, especially considering the fact that they left TCU out last year. I hope I'm wrong.
  8. We actually moved up to 8 in AP poll. Temple at 23.
  9. Agreed. I think we are going to be very disappointed on Tuesday evening.
  10. I think we need to forget about the playoff rankings altogether. There is no way that ND makes the playoff even if they win the rest of their games in convincing fashion.
  11. A lot of hogwash. If a recruit is a good kid that has less than stellar grades, by no means is the program demeaned by letting him in. Tony Rice, Chris Zorich (an ND law school grad), Michael Stonebreaker, and many other Holtz era players would never make it in under today's admissions standards. Not only did these guys not demean the program, they enriched it greatly. Let's get off our high horses, worry about more than the average SAT scores of our players and realize that a kid who is willing to put in the work and be a meaningful contributor to the program and the Notre Dame community, should be welcomed with open arms.
  12. Honestly, I think LSU is next season's national champ. If not, they're going to be damn close. This is the perfect matchup to get some sort of idea where we stand for next year. That being said, I think it's going to be ugly.
  13. Agreed. I hope some of these folks don't make life decisions in the same manner that they suggest the university should make decisions concerning the coaching staff and players. "I had a bad day at work so I quit my job. My wife left the headlights on in the car so we got divorced. My son got a D on his algebra test so I put him up for adoption."
  14. I don't think it's a question of loyalty. I think it's a question of whether or not a particular comment has any basis in reason or if it in any way provokes thoughtful discussion. Saying that yesterday's loss set the program back two years without any explanation or supporting statements is of no use. Anybody can criticize. Just give reasons for your criticism. If you criticize without doing so, be prepared to read the appropriate responses.
