  1. Why do we keep using ACC refs? With reffing this bad, might as well use the opponents refs. They’d make more of an effort not to make things look so frigging obvious…. Apart from that, was surprised how well our pass game was, Pyne made some impressive throws. That said, thought our run game sucked @ss. Seemed like we were predictable on our playcalling and OL didn’t know how to block against SC As for D, two things stand out: didn’t look like we schemed well against them. Maybe there is no scheme against a hot QB, helped by holding, but still it looked like we were always in the wrong place. That plus our tackling seemed to have regressed, again. Not sure if it’s lack of adjustment to the extra speed of SC. Why not play more of the young LBs? Lastly, depth. When I heard Cam was out I expected bad things. We are still thin, 1-2 injuries and this is a different team. Looking forward to more depth next year. Let’s kill it in whatever bowl game we get and looking forward to 2023 !
  2. Guess I should have taped it. I just hate to watch us vs Navy, for so many reasons. Made an exception for the Ireland game, which was awesome, btw… Is it possible Rees decided to get cute w/ ND up 35? I can totally see Rees out think himself and put the team in a hole, ie “we’re up 35, I’m gonna open up the playbook and give Pyne so ingame PT”, to help develop his passing game? I dunno, just theorizing here. I’m not sure Rees is a bad OC, at least not in the sense of drawing up plays and stuff. I mean, he’s capable of calling some good games. But damn, when he’s good it wrong, wow, can it get ugly, it’s like he has no answers… That said, my beef with him is I feel he has a difficult time evaluation what his offense can/can’t do, and the effect his playcalling can have on the morale of the team. Like he’s tone deaf or something… i dunno…. What about the D? Golden must have had his issues as well to let Navy whip his butt
  3. Byproduct of frustration. I didn’t watch the game I’ll admit, was expecting a letdown, but reading the comments I’m beyond perplexed. I don’t understand this team, and I think neither does anyone else here, hence the “bipolarity” I can reduce it to what I said early this season: this team is fragile. Coaches are learning, so they are fragile to any “unkown/unfamiliar” situation, and players feed off of that. Hard for coaches to “lean” on players also when coaches are screwing the pooch themselves. We are not a cohesive product. We are NOT a team…yet.
  4. Good: * OL, RB’s, running game (d-uh) *D was swarming, 3,4,even 5 D players on the ball carrier! No more keystone cops , tripping over themselves or shoddy tackling *Morrsson!!! Wow.. why’d it take so long to get him on the field? And thanks to Clemson for stubbornly keying on him. Once they went to targeting our other DBs their pass game picked up *Special Teams: ND a leader in STs? Loving it *The drive after Clemson’s 1st TD. Punched them in the Mouth. Wow. Special mention to Estime’s run on 3rd and 13 to keep the drive alive. Mixed: *Our other DBs were OK. Some good, some not as good. Bad: *Pyne… sorry, I know he had some moments, but he’s painful to watch. Doesn’t see the field, will force throws or get sacked when there are open options, like outlet pass to RB, for example. He’s a drive killer. OL/RBs saved his butt today *3rd Down Defense still weak, makes games closer than they need to be
  5. Yeah… seeing how lucky we were w/ Syracuse on pass drops, i’m concerned about this match up…. They have big DTs that eat up blocks and their LBs make all the tackles… this will be a good challenge for our OL / rush game…
  6. Our pass D is bad… we were lucky Cuse had so many drops, could have been a different game. Not feeling good about Clemson if we can’t run the rock
  7. I also think ND has gotten a bad rep because of BK’s failures with QBs ”ND: where god QB talent goes to die” sort of thing… makes it hard to attract top QBs , kinda like the reverse of TE U
  8. Would love to see the tape on Merriweather during this game, ie how many times he was on the field, how many times he was open, how many times Pyne actually saw him, etc Hearing Ress tout him as the biggest talent ND has had in a long time tells me he’s given chances but Pyne has serious tunnel vision? I dunno… it’s like I stopped coutning the times Stanford was clearly blitzing and Pyne did not adjust/audible into a new play to exploit. I mean, there was a reason Rees put Buchner before Pyne, right? I think we saw it tonight. If 87 is covered, Pyne is lost… I’m not quite ready to give up on Rees yet, but Pyne I think I’ve seen enough to know this is his ceiling
  9. I’d say ND is a broken record. Or just plain broken. Sad.
  10. So I restrained myself from posting yesterday… I’ll repeat myself by saying this team is fragile, both mentally and physically This is the second time they seem to lose all confidence after a bad play (Estime this time, Salerno last time). This is on coaching, 100% They seem injury prone, and as a reversal vs past years, seem to run out of gas as the game goes on. Again, I put this on coaching. Fundamentals have also taken a step back, especially tackling, which has been atrocious. 100% coaching What I don’t understand is, we have the same S&C coach, and you would think Freeman would be the type of coach that preaches fundamentals , toughness and would be instilling confidence. I see none of these being displayed. This is what concerns me the most. LB play is weak, I know people will say Freeman doenst have his guys but this is still concerning. Freeman’s demeanor on the sidelines is also concerning. I dont see fire, I see doubt and nervousness as soon as things dont go well. And the refs? He let that sh+t go on like a b+tch yesterday. Can’t believe I’m sayingthis but I miss purple Kelly…where’s the leadership? I’m not seeing it, this to me is what concerns me about Freeman as a HC so yes, very much concerned. This was a bad loss for ND and a very bad look for Freeman. He got a pass for Marshall, but this will get old fast. If he can’t fire up his players or his coaches, he’ll be toast before year 3, you can bet on it
  11. Game started with a special teams mistake…. lol… just read the back and forth on Kelly… no need to continue on the topic props to Texas DESTROYING OU at the RR
