  1. From what I hear, Okl wasn't in his final top 3 when he committed. This would be one of those cases in which I would hope the staff would have presented the hypothetical of what happens if we accept your commitment and Okl comes after you hard. Makes no sense why he would be considering a decommitment after this short period of time. Obviously young people make bad decisions at times. Hoping this might be a case of the sooners media putting in state pressure on Roberts to stay home and not Roberts truly being interested.
  2. I would absolutely love to have Deuce on the squad but it would be devasting to see him flip before signing day. Like I said, I have to hope that the staff has a better feel for the situation than we do. If he gets to the point where he's ready to commit, I would hope Freeman would ask him the hypothetical of if Ten/Ala were to make you their top priority, would you stick with us.
  3. Really happy to see that ND is trending well with Deuce Knight. I can't get away from being worried about him staying with ND through signing day. Both Ten & Ala have MacIntyre at the top of their QB board with Knight being next. I am worried that the loser of that battle could give Knight cause to flip if he does end up verbally committing to ND. If the decision were mine, I would think hard about the decision to take either Knight or Bachmeier. Of course I don't have the benefit of meeting with Knight in person to get a feel for his intentions.
  4. Is Tom Lemming an ND fan? He seems to favor them in past stories I have read. Not sure if it's legal but if I were Bowden and Freeman I would bring him in for his insights on ND recruiting, Lemming would have great input on improving ND recruiting.
  5. Glad to have read that ND put him in touch with Manti. That could only help.
  6. Very happy to see the Bear Bachmeier offer. Between him and D. Knight, I would take the 1st one that wants to commit. I might even favor Bachmeier. Since he's grown up a ND fan, I think that might increase the chances that he wouldn't bail in the portal as soon as others might.
  7. Don't know how you could think that this is IB misreading the situation when every ND site is down on Washington/Golden's recruiting efforts. I can only hope that Freeman is holding them accountable.
  8. IB is saying that there is info regarding Al Washington's recruiting efforts that they can't share or at least right now. What they could share was that Washington seems to work hard for some recruits but not consistently and not in the case of J. Scott. I don't get it. I would assume that he would have some idea of the negative perception he has and would want to work hard for the recruits that would surely put him in a positive spotlight if landed. Al Golden on the other hand just seems to be disinterested in recruiting particularly for '24 recruits. Hearing better reports from '25 recruits so maybe Freeman has addressed recruiting with him. I don't like calling for people's jobs but I can't be concerned about a coaches job stability that isn't putting in the effort. Ultimately it's Coach Freeman's legacy that is on the line so I hope he's having the difficult conversations with those that need it.
  9. Terrible news. I think he's going to be really good. As long as Stuckey is around, I think the WR room will be very good.
  10. Awesome pick up. Great job by the staff on this one.
  11. I agree that Justin Scott could be overated but the larger concern is that he's at a catholic HS that's an hour and half away from South Bend and ND is struggling to land him. If you can't get a 5 star like that, who can you get? If you have to pull from the concensus top 150 and below your talent evaluations and player development must be excellent. Less room for error. I thought about my coaching recruiting comment more and realized that Mikens hasn't brought in any high 4 star or 5 stars either yet I feel much better about his efforts. I don't want to be hypocritical towards Washington, Golden and O'leary. There seems to be a clear difference between those 3 and the rest of the staff. Hoping Freeman is continuously pushing them to improve and getting more involved is they don't show improvement.
  12. Seems like the last recruiting obstacle to clear is reeling in the high 4 star and 5 star level recruits. That comment is pointed at Al Washington, Al Golden and Chris O'Leary. Also, Marcus Freeman for holding them accountable. With all of the reasons that winning those recruiting battles is difficult, effort can't be one of them. 100% staff effort must go into recruiting the likes of Justin Scott, Guerby Lambert, Carter Nelson, Elijah Rushing, Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa, etc. Nothing short of 100% effort should be acceptable.
  13. Smart guy and he made some good decisions. I just didn't like his ego or the occasions that he was overriding the HC on staff decisions.
  14. New offers at this stage make me think that ND is losing ground with current LB recruit group. Or, at least one of the key LBs of their group.
  15. Uh oh. Looks like Miami is going to be a serious contender for Justin Scott. I would love to have been a fly on the wall during Scott's Miami visit. Very curious what swayed him so quickly.
  16. It emphasizes the need for continuous high level recruiting. Every team is going to lose players to the portal each year. You have to have a continuous pipeline of talented younger guys ready to step in.
  17. Good addition. He's going to move up the rankings.
  18. As the Freeman staff progresses, my recruiting concerns are lessening. Still somewhat concerned about safety, OT & vyper recruiting though.
  19. I would be really interested in gauging the temperature on the Bama message boards. My guess, they aren't thrilled with the news. If I were the ND HC I would wish Tyler good luck with your next destination but the door back is closed. His best game at ND he threw 3 picks....He's always hurt. Just being honest. He likely would have been the starter at ND next season, Think he's making a big mistake but I am not worried about him leaving.
  20. Happy to see ND is focused on recruiting bigger DTs. Should help control the opponents run game better.
  21. Mullins stats were good. Most impressive offer was USC. Just not sure I take a guy like that unless I feel that I'm going to strike out on guys like Lightfoot, Rushing and M. Williams.
  22. Peacock sucks. Screen froze coming out of nearly every commercial break. Hartman looks good. Polished and has a great feel for the game. Any defense going against Buchner is going to stack the box and force him to make quick decisions. Don't know if Buchner just doesn't understand what an open window is with his receivers or if it's something else. He must be more relaxed in practice because by all accounts his spring was really good. Even if Buchner isn't good I am confident that ND is bringing in better QBs so the future is bright. I could comment all day long. Having a QB like Hartman will allow ND to be in every game and there's no way ND loses to teams like Marshall or Stanford with him in the lineup.
  23. Yes, the ranking systems are getting bashed lately and probably well deserved. However, his offer list isn't impressive. I would expect ND to recruit at a higher level for OL and TE. They have proven success at both spots and should be able to select from the very best recruits in the nation.
