  1. After a week of reading and replying to one inane post after another, I have to ask. I also really like licking the rims of toilet bowls.
  2. Sorry I failed to post as usefully as you just did here. I'll work on it.
  3. Woah that's a pretty jerky thing to say. I'm all for letting someone express an opinion, but you're being a real jerk here. Please don't insult other members.
  4. But that doesn't make sense. There are FIVE offensive lineman committed right now. FIVE. That's an entire offensive line. The team should have about 15 o-lineman, total, on the roster at a time. Considering that, five in one class is a ton. The problems you're talking about - if they exist - can't be solved by this class. To the extent that they can be, they already have been. I have no idea how a sixth freshman o-lineman (rated lower than the other 5 probably, since they're all studs) is going to help make up for the loss of an upperclassman who was on the 2-deep.
  5. Good suggestions. I doubt anyone on ND's staff had thought of watching the opposition's games, and having the players watch them. Now they can Tivo it. That'll be better than that tedious poring over game film stuff they were planning on.
  6. How much did Carlson show while Fasano was there? How much did Eifert show while Rudolph was there? When you have a 2nd round tight end and go 5 wideouts on every play, while also running for 200 yards a game, other tight ends aren't getting much work. Tight end is a position of least concern. Koyack and Niklas are match-up problems for anyone, at least one of whom will certainly step up and flourish next year. And Heuerman is a good player. When you're worried about tight end recruiting, you don't have enough to worry about.
  7. I think short of taking transfers, the coaches are doing about all they can do or are going to do. I don't see them sacrificing the d-linemen, except (possibly) Hounshell, and I doubt they'd want to move even him. Watt (one hopes) Martin (one hopes) Lombard makes three starters back. Golic, tho improved, should be able to be replaced competently (at least) from within. Lombard may even slide over to take his spot and someone else take Lombard's place at tackle. Center is the biggest concern, but Hegarty was being groomed for it and was a top recruit - until we hear any more or any more definitive statements on his long-term situation, we can't really have a good discussion about this. Assuming the two guys return for fifth years, I think we'll be ok next year, although obviously if Hegarty isn't around it would be a challenge. This will sound wrong, but o-line depth is a luxury. If you have 8 guys on o-line you feel comfortable putting out there, you'll be fine most years.
  8. What the hell? We have 5 great prospects committed. THAT is o-line recruiting. Your "worry" isn't about o-line recruiting, so I'm not sure why it's in the recruiting forum. You're worried about o-line thinness next year on the actual team - and it isn't even PAST recruiting, because much of it is due to attrition (Matt James, Tate Nichols, Prestwood, Bullard). This is not a recruiting thread. I mean if this is a recruiting thread, here'd by my question to you - what would you have the coaches do about it, right now, in recruiting? They have a massive o-line class committed.
  9. Dumb is a word for a reason. Some things - many things, in fact - are dumb. And this thread, unfortunately for all who may encounter it, is in that class of things. I am content with my choice of approach.
  10. Sorry I didn't know certain members were above criticism and that he was one of them. You should make a sticky post of members whose posts are above criticism, so we new guys can know and can hold our tongues when one of the elect says something dumb.
  11. I'd like to know what point of his was made. A team gives up 9 touchdowns in 12 games, doesn't turn the ball over, and runs for 200 a game, and it's some grand mystery how they're undefeated. "If I could only put my finger on it...."
  12. Do any of the teams listed around us also have one of the top 3 defenses in the country? I mean seriously what a bizarre post. "Whatever this team has..." THEY HAVE THE NUMBER TWO SCORING DEFENSE IN THE COUNTRY. They've given up 9 touchdowns in 12 games. It's not some mystery. It's not mysterious "something" that nobody can put their finger on. They haven't given up points. And they haven't turned it over on offense (which is what you go out of your way to avoid doing when you can't be scored on), and they run for over 200 yards a game. This is the most basic, obvious stuff in the world. Hack sportswriters who don't really understand football at all or pay attention can tell you "what this team has". Did you post this in character as Charlie Weis? "I don't get HOW they're doing it! Their QB is middle of the road! Why, it'll just remain a mystery forever, I guess."
  13. It's doubly nonsensical to say it considering there's like a 3% chance we play Georgia. They're going to get beat by at least 14 and probably a lot more. Bama is South Carolina on steroids.
  14. Yea, northern players are garbage. Jerome Bettis, Ricky Watters, Rocket Ismail? Garbage. Couldn't play a lick. Just not the kind of elite athletes we're looking for here at ND. Michael Floyd? F him, horrible player. Just not an elite athlete. Samardzija? Eifert? Carlson? Horrible athletes, I'm sure someone from SEC country that year with the same measurables was actually better. Just by virtue of coming from SEC country. God, if only they could ALL be the super fast, super elite southern athletes. You know - like Darius and Armando.
