  1. anyone follow the nfl draft enough to have a sense of where either martin or watt might likely go in the draft?

i'm hopeful both return. i think martin will return in part to be on a line with his brother.

Some feel that Martin will shift to OG in NFL due to his heigth. That would reduce his draft status as OT are much more highly regarded.

  2. We have 5 great prospects committed but we lose Zach Martin, Braxton Cave, Chris Watt, and Mike Golic as starters. That leaves only Christian Lombard as the starter. We also lost Nichols and I'm waiting for an update on Hegarty, hoping he is ok. If we lose Hegarty we only have Heggie as back up. Then we have Nick Martin, Ronnie Stanley, Connor Hanratty, and who else?

I'm not worried about our OL. Martin and Watt are likely to be back so we will only be replacing 2. Plus we have a great OL class coming in next fall. Keep in mind that these 5 incoming OL were offered very early in the process by ND so we obviously liked each of them a ton.

  3. Am i the only person worried about TE....

Welch is coming off an injury

    Koyack has showed nothing

    Nicklas has showed very little

I love the upside of Niklas. Niklas has not been used in passing game much as he was not needed there. But I thought he showed good upside as a receiver. When Eifert is the starting TE, the backup will not be in a position to show too much. Niklas is very athletic and incredible size.

  4. Springmann, Jones and Day are all freshman who have seen the field, but in terms of a pure nose tackle who is more in the Nix mould, there isn't a scholarship player on the roster.

I don't know anything about Munger but I am surprised that we have not addressed a NT in this recruiting class. IMO, it is concerning that we do not have a replacement for Nix lined up, and I would prefer we have 2 behind him.

Springman is a sophomore and I am pretty sure he played last year but not certain of that.

  5. IMO, Bryant and Folston are much better gets at RB than Isaac. The only way I want Isaac is if James decommits or decides to take other visits and we choose to not deal with these kids taking other visits.

  6. Nobody thinks Marshall is leaning Irish. I'd be happy to be #2 behind uga. Florida and clemson are still hanging around bigtime.

UF is the favorite for agholor also...

I'm just saying that the article sounds biased. I'd love for a 1/3 of it to be true.

Your comment is simply not true. There are people, granted not most, who feel that ND leads for Keith Marshall. When I say people, I mean people who do this for a living. Personally, I think Georgia leads but I definitely think at the end of the day that we have a serious chance to steal him. And I would say that ND is strongly in it for Agholor. Strongly. All reports have ND tied at top with Florida. Landing Kiel helps with both.

ND is heavily in the final mix with Marshall and Agholor. And some feel that we lead for both. Time will tell.

  7. Hey guys, been awhile. Hope all is well for everyone.

This thread really came back from the way-back-machine.

    What happened to Sir John?

The reincarnation of this thread would even make Chiro jealous.

  8. Shaq's visit will be an official so it'll be paid (unless u have heard otherwise)...and as optimistic as i usually am, i don't think we're really in the race here anymore

I promise you that at this time, Notre Dame is strongly in this. As for the official or unofficial, you bring up a good point. But it hasn't been clarified if it is an official or unofficial.

  9. I do not disagree with Calves much, but I do believe that ND is heavily in it with Shaq Thompson. They are trying to set up visit to ND right now. U have to take a kid serious when we make the final group and the family plans a trip from Cali to South Bend, IN on their own dime.

Deon Bush will not be ND.

But to answer the original question, this staff is definitely still trying to add to the safety position. Don't forget Jarrod Wilson. He is a big time talent.

  10.

Jarron Jones--another great visit here---some feeling that we really made an impression---we do fairly well going up against PSU---I have a good feeling this one may be another late season steal for the irish!

    !

He is not visiting until this thursday.

  11. There appears to be some academic loose ends that Valentine needs to tie up.

His visit was kinda odd (his words) as he stated that it did not appear that the ND coaches knew who he was.

  12. It is now being reported that he has cancelled his ND visit. He stated that Auburn and Alabama were his favorites.

Tough loss for ND but we are well on our way at DB with many top DB recruits still on the board.

  13. Yes its jarron jones---we have a very good shot with this talented , very large young recruit.--He is clearly not satisfied with PSU, i like our chances after this visit. A good visit will put us in excellent shape.

    aloha's

I would not say that he is dissatisfied with Penn State. I'd simply say that he is keeping his options open as he has stated from day one. When he committed to Penn State he said that same day that he will still look at other schools and take some visits. Around that time he mentioned ND as one of those visits.

  14. yea it's Michigan, one of the guys in the "know" thinks if he decides in the near future he's going to Michigan, but if it drags out longer, he'll prob be Irish.

That individual also said they are basing that on absolutely nothing other than the timeline and the Powers connection with Michigan. Not dogging you Ziggy, just expressing that person's comments were not based on anything that he has info on.

  15. Don't think we have a great chance with Peat, but it's great to get him on campus.

Are we the favorite? No But when a kid flies from Arizona to South Bend on his own dime than we definitely have a chance.
