  1. You are correct sir. I was in there as well.
  2. Everybody can relax, I just personally witnessed Tee saying in a chat room with about 6 other people that he is ND until he dies, and he 100% enrolling here. Greenberry is coming as well. Book it.
  3. No horse in this race, but I sure hope you are not an attorney PWT. You are disputing facts with semantics. If its possible to get back on topic though, I LOVE the new helmets and would actually like to see the team come out in gold pants to match them, and Madonna blue jerseys.
  4. Jason Sapp disagrees with you if one of the current QBs does not come back next year for one reason or another. He is correct more often then not
  5. I agree with your assessment of our WR corp being just as much of an issue as Rees. We definitely need a more mobile QB who has the arm strength to test a defense vertically. That being said we also need receivers who can test a defense vertically. TJ Jones is a good WR, but not explosive. Riddick is explosive in tight spots, but I dont see the true top end speed from him. He is more quick and shifty than fast. I do believe though that Davaris Daniels is going to be the best true ATHLETE we have seen play WR in some time. Kid is fast, explosive and can jump through the roof. He needs to hopefully gain a full understanding of the offense and put on another 10 lbs before next season. GAIII if moved back to WR can definitely provide some explosiveness. Also, do not sleep on the guys who appear to be coming in with next years freshman class as it stands right now. Ferguson is vastly underrated as an athlete and is built like a college junior right now. Greenberry might not have top end speed but is 6'3, long and attacks the ball incredibly well. Chris Brown would be the fastest WR on our roster right now. The cavalry is definitely on the way. Hopefully the upperclassmen can hold down the fort until they arrive. If Golson develops physically and continues his natural progression as a QB he will challenge Rees as the starter next year. Having a QB who is actually a threat to keep it on the read option, tuck it an run if everybody is covered, or even run a little speed option or be a threat on roll outs will help alleviate the lack of a playmaking WR until somebody steps up and takes that role next year. I dont think Brian Kelly will have trouble generating a high scoring, fast paced offense, but right now I think he is playing the hand he's been dealt. We just went on the road, played our wost game of the year, and came out with a W. Hard to argue that we were outcoached. If that were the case, we would be 1-3, not 2-2. I relate this to a Roy Halladay or CC Sabathia. As a pitcher you're not going to have your A game every time out, but the good ones go out there and find a way to win even when they don't.
  6. Just curious how he had 3 TDs for a team that only scored 14 pts unless I am reading this wrong or those are season stats, which wouldnt be very impressive.
  7. Also agree with everything said, but have to say Utah last year was a pretty impressive showing by the ND faithful. Stadium was rocking almost the entire game in cold, wet miserable weather.
  8. The play where Tommy had the ball batted back in his face was going to be a bubble screen to theo.
  9. Cant speak for Frankus but I break out the DVD recorder with HDD every ND football season.
  10. Agree with just about everything you mentioned and I also noticed much of the same when re-watching the game. I also noticed on the play that Rees threw of TJ's helmet he had Wood open as his safety valve on the short side of the field if he just floated it up a little bit for him. Not sure who it was, but he would have had a WR to block him into the endzone in addition to TJ who would have naturally re-routed the defenders just by being in the way. Bennett Jackson is an absolute monster on kick coverage, and I really hope he continues to progress and we can see him in the secondary a bit this season. That kid is FAST and definitely does not shy away from contact. Being an ex-WR you would imagine he has some ball skills too, so its just a matter of learning how to sink his hips and play pass coverage within our scheme....not necessarily an easy task to learn, but one the defensive will greatly benefit from when it happens. We are definitely weak at the inside LB position opposite T'eo. Fox took some bad angles and was completely lost on too many plays. Carlo is a run stuff but is a liability in coverage and stuggles to flow to the ball outside the tackles, although he did do a nice job blowing up a screen. Our offense would be lethal with a QB that posed a threat to keep the ball on the read option. I was a Dayne supporter, but firmly believe Tommy has proved he needs to be the guy taking snaps. Barring injury he could very well be our guy the rest of the season, but having that running threat would be awesome. One of the things I did not understand Saturday was the lack of play action. We ran the ball successfull both out of the Shotgun and from under center and I thought in the first half we had a few opportunities to run play action and take some shots vertical, but we never did for some reason. I like using Filer, Carlo, and even Ethan as lead blocks on offense. 3 fast, strong athletic dudes and as long as they understand their assignments, I think it is a nice use of personnel...prime example, on the Jonas fumble he completely missed the hole. Filer and Carlo helped push the defense out wide and he ran right into the pile. If he takes one step back inside he is one on one with a linebacker or safety a yard from the endzone...that is an ideal situation and a matchup more often than not the back is going to win. He blew that play in more ways than one.
  11. Most of the elite defenses in the SEC that I assume you are comparing us to, (nobody wants to be compared to Vanderbilt or Kentucky) are constructed of guys that offers from at least half if not all of the entire SEC, not just 1 or 2 SEC offers.
  12. Maybe I'm crazy, but it's been quite obvious to me for some time now that Colin is not a ND fan and visits to constantly stir the pot.
  13. I definitely agree with you that Tee will see reps and will be on the accelerated program next fall...heck Darby may be as well. Those two are definitely elite talents that if they are ready, we want on the field. My point was just more so about Tee coming in and jumping Lo Wood and others just because they didn't have the accolades that he does coming out of high school. Talent is a must, but there is no substitute for experience. In general I hope Lo and Bennett make great strides this year and some of the freshman get their feet wet (Hardy Atkinson and Brown). Kinda wish the circumstances were different for Spencer Boyd and he could have stuck around to see what he could do. Same for Okatchka (sp?)
  14. Part of what Brian Kelly said in his press conference the other day is also exactly why I think Tee is highly unlikely to start as a true freshman. He may have been talking about Lo Wood, or possibly Bennett Jackson, but he was saying how they show flashes of greatness on one play, then make a mistake on the next. He made a comment that more so than any other position on the football field, cornerback is not a position you can be thrown into without a level of consistency. You cant have 4 good plays, then 1 bad one at corner back because that one bad one is likely going to result in a big play for the offense. Lynch may see playing time this year, Tuitt might as well, but they play a position where their mistakes can made up for by other guys on the team much more easily. I just dont see a freshman, unfamiliar with the system coming in and playing significant minutes over a guy who has been in the system 2 years, when most of our current superstars, Manti, Flemming etc are in year 2, and are still learning as much as they are...and that is completely disregarding the fact that aside from being in year 2 under Kelly, most of these guys have another year or two experience of college ball under Charlie in general. Weis may not have been a great developer of talent, but that doesnt stop guys from learning and understanding the faster pace of the college game and the challenges it presents.
  15. You are getting a little ahead of yourself here with a freshman walking onto campus and supplanting a guy who will be in his 3rd year in the system simply because he was ranked higher coming out of high school. You seem to be really digging the preseason talk, so if nothing else all the talk you hear from these players about the gains in both strength and knowledge and comfort in the system and how much that helps should lend credence to the fact that familiarity and repetition in both the defense and the weight room are necessary for optimal performance. Using that information I would be inclined to believe we are at a point in the program where VERY few freshman are going to just walk onto campus, early enrollee or not, and supplant incumbent starters or guys who have much more tangible strength and seasoning.
