Golson threw for 150 TDs in high school. I know we assume that he is a runner (I wonder why)...but it seems to me that he has always been a pass first QB who likes to sit in the pocket. He wasnt much of a runner in high school and from everything I have read, he isnt real comfortable running right now. Once he gets control and things begin to slow down, he will hit those gaps when the play breaks down, but his intincts are as a passer first, so hes always looking down field. Give him time and he will see it all better, but Kelly isnt trying to turn him into anything he isnt, hes just letting Golson grow and learn without forcing too much.
The zone read is tough for guys who are still figuring out how to read the defense. Not real easy for a guy with 4 starts to know what the defensive end is going to do in a split second...as soon as he does though, id bet we will see Golson hold on to that ball a lot more and burn that end for crashing in.
