Moody will be transferring from USC and is considering Notre Dame as a school he will transfer to. the other schools are Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M. I believe he first committed to Ok before changing to USC but I could be wrong about which school he originally committed to before USC.

a couple tidbits about Moody when he was being recruited.

* out of HS, he was 6'1", 195. Ran a 4.44 40 and benched 305.

* Had offers from USC, Texas, OK, Texas A&M, Miami (FL) among others

* He was the 9th ranked RB and 11th top prospect in Texas

* 4 star RB by Rivals.

Would USC let him out of his scholarship if he wanted to attend ND?

What kind of shot do you think we have with Moody? I would guess that with the perceptions about our RB depth, we may not be first on his list

moody originally committed to texas before signing with the trojans. his final three were miami, texas and usc. i'd say that ND a zero percent chance at landing moody, dont be surprised to see him at oklahoma st.

You are right Danger, it was Texas. I was thinking Oklahoma.

I thought ND did not accept transfers.

ND accepts transfers they just dont accept JC transfers i believe.

Yes, you are correct, just look at the basketball program and alll of the transfers they have had. Plus, look at bermdorfer, though a walkon, he transferred in. We don't take Jucos.

TCU is also said to be in the running...he went to Coppell HS which is in the DFW area.

Is he really considering ND or is this just a rumor??

I dont think well get him. If he transfers to ND, hes not garunteed a scholarship, so hed have to pay a load of money. Im sure a player of his caliber would have no problem earning one but hed have to pay big $$$$.

Check the wire on II. Its not some completely hair brained rumor, but its not straight from the horses mouth, so it must be somewhere in between rumor and truth.

I had a brain fart over at GH, but the bottom line here is he's not coming to ND. For a hypothetical dramatization:

If Konrad Reuland turned around tomorrow and said, "I'm going to transfer; I'm looking for a clearer depth chart and a winning pedigree," do you think there'd be ANY chance Weis would release him from scholarship to go to USC, to a school we'll be playing every year that Reuland would be eligible? Heck, I'd be willing to bet that Weis wouldn't let Frazer go to Rutgers because Frazer could have started against ND in his potential 5th year of eligibility, let alone all 3 years.

Unless the California sun has bleached Pete's brain along with his hair, there's no way on earth he lets Moody go over to the enemy. He knows their book, and he could make them look extremely bad if he beat them some day.

I saw a rumor on the USC Wild West Sports Forum that he will be going to TCU. No further info.

forget moody, good player but that's the furthest thing from Weis mind right now. He's not going to go courting this kid right now.

Plus, Weis is no fool. If your trying to convince your team that you're eventually going to be like Sourthern Cal you don't go begging after their castoffs.

Can you imagine that? We tried to get Tyler. We tried to get McKnight. But then we go after the incumbent starter that couldn't take the comp when they got on campus? Not takin him. Let him go to OK ST (they're Transfer U anyway) and be successful.

He ain't coming to Miami either.

NCAA has changed the rules of coaches/schools and releasing players I don't know the whole extent of it but it doesn't allow them to control where they can and can't go like they've been able to in the past.

A coach doesn't have to grant a release but after a year a coach can't do anything.

Not to get off topic here, but I've never understood this policy at ND. Students can transfer to the University out of Holy Cross...but athletes cannot. Doesn't make sense to me.

Carry on.

I'm pretty sure, not positive though, that there isn't a definite policy against juco athletes, just that normally if somebody good enough to get a scholarship has to go to Junior College, they won't meet the academic criteria the ND wants.

we could use the speed let him come to ND

Yeah...there is nothing against JUCO's, it's just that typically the type of students who go to JUCO's typically can't pass ND's academic requirements. There are exceptions, though. Holy Cross, before it became 4 year, was more of a feeder school to ND than a true JUCO. The JUCO/Transfer rule does not separate athlete and non-athlete. The rules apply relatively the same across the board.

As far as moody, i'm not getting my hopes up.
