Guest Irish4life
First let me just say i hate the yankees with a passion. but i respect them. not being a realist, i dont think the yankees have enough to get into the playoffs. i dont think the hitting is consistent enough to put up runs against good teams like the sox, tigers, indians, angels etc. plus they having pitching issues and just think that they will fall short of going to the playoffs 4 AL teams in playoffs: Boston Detroit Anaheim Cleveland Mariners fall just short as well. rdrdreamer
The problem with 'hating', is that we tend to place emotion before logic. The New York Yankees are not in the thick of it for the wild card. Reason being that that distinction will go to the BoSox soon enough. AL East pennant winners do not qualify for the wild card. As for not having enough to get them over the top...the young guns will prevail. There will more than enough pitching once the roster has been expanded. But hey...thanks for the early morning humor...I have a smile on my face thinking about the 14.5 game lead the BoSox have squandered... mlcspinner
it always comes down to pitching
rdrdreamer
it always comes down to pitching True, it does. Which brings up this little question...did you catch Phil Hughes? We will over take the Red Sox. 1978 will all but be an old memory...the new one will be when the Red Sox lose the pennant...after being spotted 14.5 game lead...with the Yankees lack of pitching. It's all good for the Yankee's...real good for us Yankee fan's! Pretty good for not being able to hit.

I mean, an 11 to 2 win over the Indians...?

Guest irishrick
yes the sox lost again . o well they go home and play the rays, so unless the yanks keep winning looks like a done deal, of course the yanks have been winning on so-so clubs. right ? Yeah, a play-off with the Sox would be good for baseball. If your a real fan...there should be no fear. To be the best, you've got to beat the best. As for Manny...the BoSox over fed that monster. He is after all their creation. Or how does it go in Boston...'He's just being Manny'.
