Posted August 3, 200717 yr well it's here, what we've all been waiting for. it's tom lemmings top 100. http://www.cstv.com/recruiting/recruiting2008.html
August 3, 200717 yr 10 guys by my count with a shot at many more such as Floyd, Robinson, Sabino, Baldwin, and Ryan Williams. I prolly missed a couple as well. Then again Lemming is such a homer....oh well, I'll enjoy this.
August 3, 200717 yr Author i like his take on omar hunter. not sure if he's top 50 or the best NG but it's good to see him finally getting some respect.
August 3, 200717 yr My count was 10 also. But I also count 6 recruits in the top 100 that we have legit chances with. Deion Walker (offer is probably on the way), Baldwin, Ryan Williams, T. Robinson, Sabino and Patchan. Probably the least chance is with Patchan but we will see.
August 3, 200717 yr and sam mcguffie at #10? Yeah that made me double take. Tom must have done his analysis using the youtube videos.
August 3, 200717 yr and sam mcguffie at #10? Yeah that made me double take. I know that we all seem to think McGuffie at 10 is ridiculous, but the kid is a great athlete and has the flash that makes recruiting analysts drool. Everyone is looking for the next Reggie Bush and the truth is behind Michigan's line and with a QB like Mallett, McGuffie is most likely going to excel. If he wasn't a UM recruit we'd all still give him a ton of praise and many would continue to hope he'd come ND's way. My high school played against Mike Hart in high school and he was an amazing RB when we played him his Junior year. Well, McGuffie is far and away a much better athlete than Hart was/is. I for one am not looking forward to facing him starting next fall.
August 3, 200717 yr Well, the Guffster does play in the biggest school bracket in Texas and those stats are no lie - 45 TD's and 3,000 yards or thereabouts. But he's not gonna escape Filer and Fleming.
August 3, 200717 yr No doubt that McGuffie is a tremendous athlete with skills on the football field, that being said I think he is one of the most overrated recruits of 2008. But who knows, there are much better talent evaluators out there than me.
August 3, 200717 yr I hate to say it, but the reason that so many recruiting services don't rank McGuffie in the top 100 is because he is white. There really hasn't been an outstanding white running back in the last 10 years, so analysts doubt a good one when they see one. For me, no other high school film made me amazed as much as McGuffie.
August 3, 200717 yr Author i'd take mcguffie out of that #10 spot and replace him with CB patrick johnson. why johnson is listed at #40 i'll never know.
August 3, 200717 yr I for one am not looking forward to facing him starting next fall. With our defensive recruits so far this year - I can't wait to see him pull a hurdle act and watch him get pile driven by _________ (insert your favorite ND commit this year on defense). I will relish that....
August 4, 200717 yr Gotta say, this list has plenty of blatant holes. Kyle Long @ #11 and uncommitted? He picked FSU for baseball months ago... now I get a better feeling why he gets strafed so often by outsiders - its not just the ND homer thing.
August 4, 200717 yr McGuffie is a freak but as we all know the guys in D1 run a little faster and hit a little harder. You go airborne as many times a s Sam and your knees are just asking to be ripped. I know everyone watches the Saint games to see a "highlight" play but deep in the back of your mind it is like watching a Nascar race. You know the crash is going to happen. The question is "when"? I love watching Bush just like my dad loved watching Sayers. Problem is that 185-190 and lanky doesn't hold up well running the ball in the No Fun League!
well it's here, what we've all been waiting for. it's tom lemmings top 100.
