Butler will be announcing on August 1st. It is down to ND, Florida State and USC.

IMO, we are 3rd in this race and Florida State will be dancing with the prom queen on August 1.

i agree that he's FSU bound. it's to bad cause he's going to be a good one. im just glad it's FSU and not USC.

Some of the things he said rubbed me the wrong way. A very talented player, but I won't be heartbroken if/when he puts on a hat that isn't blue and gold. I'd much rather Baldwin if given the choice.

i think i would too. baldwin is a walking mismatch, at 6'6 225 lbs. and running a 4.31-4.33 their won't be many DBs who could stop him.

The 4.31 40 is not accurate. 4.4 at best. Either way, he's a mismatch. The question with Baldwin is if he will outgrow the position.

I haven't seen the Baldwin tape at all. Is he polished and can he be compared to Duval K?

his comparison as an athlete is to calvin johnson. the crazy thing is a lot of these WRs can be faster after speed training and working on their technique and route running. This kid's gonna be a good one.

the only WR i can campare to calvin johnson would be aj green. but i agree that baldwin could turn into a very good WR in college, it's just going to be to difficult for CBs to cover him.

A few other names that fit would include Plaxico Burress, and former Stanford WR Teyo Johnson.

Baldwin reminds me of Marcus Monk at Arkansas.

I think Baldwin has a much larger upside. Butler's more polished and could play earlier but Baldwin could develop into a completely unstoppable force.

me

J. Baldwin can definitely play... The comparisons are unfair... But I think he would have a major impact from day 1...

Like I have stated in a previous post... Who are going your going to bring safety help for... Kumara, Floyd, Butler, Baldwin... we need depth at receiver as well as starters... An injury could decimate us... We still could pass in 2005 but with a healthy Rhema we win the national title cuz no one would have been able to stop us.... AND I KNOW that Charlie knows that as well...

It should be interesting Aug. 1st I tell you that...

Georgia or anyone else could have had that hat on the table... I guess 33.3 pct... isn't all that bad...

depth at WR is not our problem, top end talent at WR is our problem.

even with rhema ND wouldn't have beaten texas for the NC noway but i know what you mean. the MSU and USC game would've been different. kamara, tate, floyd and baldwin would really give ND a lot of weapons at WR. specially since ND does a lot of four and five WR sets. no defense could stop ND if we spread them out with those four WRs.

Rock I think we need to somebody to step in a be consistent from the time they enter to the time they get off the field... And we do not as of this point have five consistent receivers that a defense would have to account for whenever they hit the field. So in my opinion depth is something like a five star wide receiver getting hurt and a very capable high four star guy stepping in and making big plays... I don't see that on the roster...

NO team is going to have 5 consistent receivers. That's an impossible pipe dream. You can't have 5 consistent receivers when only 2-3 are typically on the field on most plays. Yes, teams play 4-5 WR packages but that is not overly common. Let alone it being possible since there is only one football to throw around. When it comes to your wr's, you have 2 or maybe 3 wr's you can count on, consistent wr's. But to think you can have 5 conssitent wr's is crazy talk.

I don't think there is any doubt that what this team lacks at WR is top talent, not depth. We actually have alot of depth and what depth usually is numbers. We do have numbers at WR, unproven numbers. There is talent there, but again it is unproven. Above anything else at WR, we are missing #1 and #2 receiver types. Even Grimes is probably only a 3 on a good wr group.
