Iowa's recruiting effort hurt by rise of ND and Illinois

Thanks for the article - that is an interesting read. Yes - things have definitely changed in Illinois. And to second that thought - ND finishing 40th in recruiting should not have happened. It is not fathomable how ND under Ty would have done so poorly with recruiting. Luckily - i don't ever foresee that again. Thanks CW and CB!!

If ND get pull in a 40th ranked recruiting class with no recruiting, then w/ some real recruiting ND should be in the top 3 each year. Thanks CW and CB for making it happen year in and year out.

Do not expect top 3 every year... Top 3 will be the exception not the rule. Now top 10 should be the minimum.

USC sure doesn't think like that. And they have a string of 5 top threes to prove it. No reason why we can't do the same.

--------USC won consecutive NC's......that had a little something to do with everybody wanting to go there. Even though I don't count their first NC sharing with LSU.

true but domeanddomer is right, i think at ND you want and EXPECT top 5 classes pretty much from here on out from CW, CB and co. unless they don't win *anything* in the next couple of years, i don't see why this sort of thing can't be expected. it's not like we didn't see holtz doing year after year back in the day ( and yes, i just *know* someone's gonna dig up holt's recruting numbers to try and prove me wrong! i'm ready :) ). we know it can be done. so why not expect it? isn't that the fightin' irish way?

Sc also does not graduate players and has alot of players leave early (academics/NFL) allowing them to take more recruits. SC does not have the same academic standards or character limitations that ND has. Finally, SC is surrounded by all kinds of talent and has TOS fawning over them to the point that SC 4th choice at QB becomes a 5* overnight and passes the 2nd and 3rd choices.

Why ND will have problems is the fact that other schools especially the SEC bring in 25+ player classes regularly because of the number of non-qualifiers and players kicked out early. The only way to overcome that would be to bring in almost equal number 5* and 4* players like SC did last year.

That being said, we do not need to be top 3 every year. As long as we are top 10 every year, we can be a consistant NC contender. Lets not forget, the NE patriots are not stacked with the 5* NFL players, rather they develop their players and put them in positions to win.

i never could get through the windmill with a golf ball andf putter :censored: :drunk: :drunk: :drunk: :drunk:

and yet you could still recruit better than Ty...

By the way - I don't measure our recruiting class rank by the numbers put on them by the sites, but rather are we getting all of the guys CW and CB are targeting - this will be a top 3 class IMO with what we have landed and are expected to get from here on out...

i agree with Domer here-always best to measure success by the success rate on the targeted players. we are getting the guys we want and need, thats all i need to know.
