J. Brown supposedly has set his five officials does that mean he is not committing when he comes up and if he doesn't goodbye spot...

Patchan now according to Miami rivals page not going to visit ND and make Miami his last visit...

I'm not worried about J Brown.

I think Patchen either saw the writing on the wall with T Robinson. That sucks though...I loved Patchen's film.

At this point, don't look to deep into Patchan not visiting because he is not visiting on an unofficial. I am assuming that he will likely visit us on an official. We are the only school this far north that he is looking at.

We are still a darkhorse in this race but I bet he still visits, officially.

I've said it before and will say it again. This Patchan vs Robinson stuff is overblown. I highly doubt Robinson's visit had any impact on the Patchan decision. Robinson and Patchan are both very good to great high school propsects. Many feel Patchan is more important because he plays tackle. Bottom line is this, if the coaches really felt like they had a good shot with Patchan, and they were only going to take one more OL then they would not have allowed Robinson to visit. It is all about risk and opportunity. The chances of us landing Patchan are lower then that of landing Robinson. At this point it isn't about who is better but who is more likely.

Stank, well said. I agree completely.

Warning: Hypothetical implications about another prospect. Take with grain of salt.

If the Miami reports are right, and if it's because the staff told him "Hold your horses buddy, something came up so thanks for the interest but we don't have the space any more", then I have to like the implications of that one :winking:.

As for J. Brown, it could mean a # of things. Maybe he isn't planning on pledging, and wants to drag things into the season. Maybe its posturing, and they know full well what they want to do late July. Maybe he really wants to play it by ear, and thus keep all his options open. Who knows, I mean Robert Blanton was telling the public he'd start to narrow things down in July, and pledge some time in August :D . We'll just have to wait and see.

This may not be current recruiting news, but I just saw over on Rivals, that Myles Wade, DT from oregon last year, has been ruled academically ineligible for this year, and will attend a smaller school in hopes to transfer back. Seems like some of the guys that we missed out on are having some serious problems. Wade, Clay, Easterling(not that we had a chance, lol)

Hey....I'm telling you guys now...JB will commit when he is up here. I've heard of too many indicators to think otherwise. Rock-on-Irish!!!

I'm not sure how the staff feels about who is important, but remember Robinson was one of the first three guys offered for this class. The staff obviously likes him.

Of our incoming linemen and/or prospects, he's probably the meanest and he doesn't lack for ability.

There are probably some interior guys (including Robinson) that could play RT if that came down to it. I have a feeling we'll see a Romine/Clelland battle at RT in a couple years if Young is never moved there.

i agree with scoop. I don't know how the two correlate to each other as far as scholarship spots and whatnot, but I don't think Robinson can be underestimated.

I'm rarely extremely impressed with O Line film because its usually just a huge guy destroying little guys and they always have a lot to work on at this point as far as technique (or thats what all the "analysts" always say).

but look at robinson's tape and tell me he's not moving as quickly as ethan johnson (maybe hyperbole, but it looks like it).....and he's 300 lbs already.

EDIT: by the way, Romine will be our next left tackle i think whenever he overtakes duncan or duncan graduates.

Let me clarify. I'm not passing judgement on either of the prospects as I really like them both. The player debate has been the one that has taken up much of the conversation around here lately. If I could have either and were forced to take just one, I would probably take Patchan because I like his upside. That being said, my point was more about opportunity then it was about who the staff liked better or who was the better player.

Just so we're aware, Mike Frank says the staff is looking at Robinson as a RT candidate as well as OG. He did interview Robinson last January, so I'm guessing he got that info straight from the horse's mouth. That said, Robinson does play tackle in high school, so it's not a complete stretch of the imagination for him to stay there.

So, all things considered - he could play guard or tackle, the staff jumped all over this kid very early, and that even though the recruiting sites see him as a guard he's still a top 100 prospect across the board - the Irish should feel very, very good about this kid from the vantage point of what he brings to the table. I would not be disappointed at all if we got him, and thus ended recruiting other OLineman. Same goes for Patchan, but we really shouldn't get too riled up on the Patchan vs. Robinson front, IMO.

----------Calves, did you mention if you think the staff told Patchan not to bother making the visit? Anyway, those of you giving up hope because Jeremy is playing it safe are too easy and gullable. He hasn't been to South Bend yet, so just in case it's horrible he has everything in order. What does it hurt to set up officials? He'll like his visit and he's going to be there for about 4 or 5 days. You really think CB won't close the deal on this kid while he's there? You're crazy then...

Knight, its more or less wishful thinking about why he would change his plans and chose not to visit, but yeah I did mention it earlier in the thread.

Here's the report that Patchan's touring should be finished after "the U".

Miami will be final summer visit for stud OL

When and for how long is jeremy brown visiting?

I think the 25th or 26th, towards the end of the month. He will be staying a few days I believe.
