Posted July 12, 200717 yr Do you think that Notre Dame will go back to putting names on the uniforms. What say you ?
July 12, 200717 yr I like the numbers only. Football is a team sport... I root for ND, not the individual players.
July 12, 200717 yr the only thing names do is identify the body when their dead! lol just jokin, my family jokes me with that sayin they dont wanna be identified!
July 12, 200717 yr Do you think that Notre Dame will go back to putting names on the uniforms. What say you ? nope
July 12, 200717 yr Only if we put some cool stripes and wings on our helmets, have a jumbotron and name our stadium after a huge corporation, then I'd be totally down for it
July 12, 200717 yr I think having no names on the back of jersey's is classier and really puts emphasis on the team aspect....so no
July 12, 200717 yr I AGREE I READ A ND BLOG WHERE SOMEONE WANTED nd TO CATCHUP WITH ALL THE ORTHER SCHOOLS AND PUT NAMES ON , I THINK PENN STATE IS ABOUT THE ONLY BIG SCHOOL THAT FEELS LIKE WE DO. GO IRISH .
July 12, 200717 yr Although I have voted NO several times just out of traditions sake...It would be a help to my aging brain to know who was who past those easy ones like Zibby #9 or Brady #10. Last year I got a new computer and it 'won't speak' to my old printer so I had no roster printout. I'd click into Official ND to see who's number was who when a play was made on the field, then perhaps pop into DD to type a comment, all this while trying to focus on the TV game. For me just be easier to track the players, as I am interested in the line work while the TV focuses on QB, running back or pass receiver. I don't suggest it's the thing to do tho. ****ing new printer needed
July 12, 200717 yr I agree, names are not necessary in a team sport. Nor are sticking those retarded looking stickers on your helmet. You know who started that crap? Guess. Take a wild guess. O$U Surprised? Of course not. Plenty of the "proper" schools, such as ND and Michigan bauked at the idea of desecrating their helmets with rewards you give to a first grader after he spells "house" correctly. Many schools followed suit with the whole sticker thing, but not only does it not look very good, but it really shows how much of a "team" game it is for them, when they are so concerned about clear plastic stickers. Between that and names on jerseys, you really feel concerned for the sport in general at this level. -MW-
July 12, 200717 yr Funny story. UK basketball has one (1) player without his name, and the rest of the team has names on jersey. The coach said he was so far down the depth chart, human victory cigar when he plays, that it wasn't worth putting his name on the jersey. I think (the new) coach Gillispie should change that. This guy may end up with a complex the rest of his life.
July 13, 200717 yr Yes! I like it better when I know who I am cheering on to victory! Plus it's easier to cuss them when they screw up! Besides the general population ALWAYS does better on the verbal part of the SAT instead of the MAth part! LOL
