I was watching a video about this team a while back, and it had coaches fighting with players and stuff like that.

It was a documentary called Year of the Bull. It featured a DE LB named Tauren Charles who signed with UF, got kicked out then went to Bethune Cookman College a D-1 AA school in Daytona, Florida. It was a shocking video to watch. I havent seen anything else like it. I would suggest all football fans should check it out.

That is exactly what it was.

Aren't they supposed to be the top team in the country next year or something? Oh well, I'd feel bad for these kids but the same thing at the same exact time happend to my coach before my Sr. season which F'd everything up.

the guy who did it was Rudy Crew, who was Chancellor of NYC Public Schools out here under Rudy G in the 90's...with windfall budget surpluses and basically a free hand to do whatever needed to be done, and all the money he needed or asked for Crew was a miserable failure out here. not that i agree/disagree with what he did down in miami with Northwestern, but in NYC he had all the opprtunity to make a real difference for generations of inner city kids and basically squandered it b/c he made bad decisions, was in way over his head...had no idea how to do his job.

probably was rudy g's worse appointee during his term as mayor.

They are ranked 1st by alot of publications, with 9ish D-1 prospects. Always a very talented team (but every Miami school is). And they are suppost to play South Lake Carroll (TX) in a huge matchup this upcoming season.

I think that game is on TV.

It will be. They are playing at the SMU stadium if im not mistaken, and its on ESPN showcase highschool game.

didnt someone here also say that Crist and McDonald HS team has a natioanlly televised game this year as well...maybe could start a thread that lists any of our commmitments' games/dates/times that we at DD know of, keep it updated, so we can try and watch them if our cable systems have the games...i remember last year getting called a minute before kickoff that somehow clausen team was playing bonaventure/ventura and i missed the live broadcast but stayed upt ill like 3am for a replay of it...clausen and tyler looked unstoppable, put on a clinic...remember tyler twist ankle or somehting celebrating after a TD and said "Hah! thats what you get for hotdoggin it the USC way"

I think NDHS plays Servite in a televised game. Kind of cool because NDHS has 2 ND commits and Servite sends guys to USC every year (this year they have Matt Kalil and DJ Shoemate). I could try to get that thread started later in the summer around the first week of August.

--------i woke up today and Oaks Christian State championship was on. Clausen tends to leave the pocket way too early without any pressure sometimes and gets himself in trouble. I think Weis already rectified that because I haven't seen him do it yet. He threw 3 picks that game, but only 2 were his fault. Their defense is what made the game so close though, the other teams offense just ate up the clock all game and kept Clausen off the field.

I recently have gotten the sports channel digital cable for Comcast cable here in Florida, mostly for English and Spainsh PL soccer, but they have some channels that in the next 2 days are showing Servite (Shoemate and Matt Khalil), Notre Dame HS (I think its Sherman Oaks with McDonald and Crist) and Orange Lutheran (Blake Ayles) and Mission Viejo. So im very excited to say the least.

Meyers job is obviously not make men out of boys.

Its tough to mold men when you cry uncontrollably in front of them.

haha!!! that is hilarious ray!!!

I can't help but think of the ramifications this has with Marcus Forston's recruitment. As I remember it, their HS coach was a hopeless romantic for "the U". Maybe TeamULoveToHate can fill us in on this one... is that true? Or does neither improve nor worsen our chances with Forston?

^^^^Never knew that the coach was pushing him towards Miami, but it doesnt come as a surprise.

-------Coach wasn't pushing him to the "U", he doesn't have to. My friend works for the "U" football team and even has Marcus' #. He'll look around, but theres no way he's leaving Miami. Shannon is too much of a good guy.

A couple of things:

1.) The head coach at Northwestern (the guy who got fired) played football at Miami with Shannon. He definitely pushed his guys towards the U.

2.) The coaching staff leaving doesn't mean much, because in high school it's all about the players and who has the better athletes -- you don't see teams get out-coached like you do in college in the pros. Northwestern is going to roll through the season no matter what, because they're loaded (much like Lakeland last year).

3.) This doesn't hurt ND's chance with Fortson, because the NWestern coach WAS pushing his kids to the U.

4.) Southlake Carroll is the best program in Texas and has been for the last couple years. NWestern is the best program in Florida this year. That game is going to be AWESOME.

5.) Fortson leaving Miami isn't a definite, but it's right aroudn 50/50. He isn't locked into the Canes whatsoever.

I don't have much information or "inside stuff" that some guys do with a bunch of the recruits here, but I am very close with people who are very, very connected with the Miami program. Some people are saying Fortson is a lock to be a Cane, and others (you'd be shocked about some of the things said about the kids they're recruiting) thinks he's as good as gone.

Oh, and about the coach "fighting" his players -- I've seen that mentioned a few times on the board, and it's a crock. Him hitting them in the helmet isn't any different than a coach bringing both fists down on a player's shoulder pads. It's just another way to fire the kid's up.
