Fits the Mike Frank tease to a "T". Not a guy many ND watchers thought would come our way, and the news isn't about an imminent commit. He said we'd probably know within a weeks time. 3 for 3 - surprise revealed.

The more I think about it, I don't think he's interested in ND. He hasn't listed ND at all for a while (Not even his top 10.) Has he even visited ND yet? I would assume this is more good news for A&M then that of ND.

Calves, while this is certainly big news for some program...do you feel that we would have a chance with this kid? I have always liked his profile...just never felt we had a chance. Would be a good pick up for us.

IK, your right he hasn't listed ND for a while, but he is an 18 yr old kid with a huge decision to make. If he does decide to come to ND then great, and if he doesn't go to UM, great then too.

I don't know. I'd rather use that scholarship in another place, apprently that is what the staff is thinking as well. He's good though, who knows I guess we'll hear more as it comes along.

I'm in the "we should take a RB in each class" camp, so if it was him, that would be great, if not Thomas would be great too, just different. Overall though, I not going to complain about this class at all.

I'm with Fanatic on that front. Playing keep away from the Wolverines is good enough for me.

 

I don't know how ardent he is about Notre Dame. Some of the talk from ND nation has me thinking he could be more interested than we thought - that McGuffie has moved to the "front burner", whatever that means. So if you really want to believe he's a legit possibility, then I suppose you have enough to go off of.

 

But I really thought this ship had sailed for Columbus (to join his teammate Shugarts) or Ann Arbor a while back, and without a Buckeye offer, you do the math. So I'm still rather guarded/pessimistic about our chances.

 

That in mind, the main reason I won't shut the door just yet is because of "2nd look syndrome" kids get when a program has a really good recruiting class going. When you're ranked 3rd by one recruiting service, and 1st by another... it makes your school a prime candidate to be looked at again by kids you thought were off the radar. We'll see how it goes, but at least this ends the chase for names that some were on here after Thursday's Power Hour.

That's what I thought too.

If ND is recruiting "Character" guys, somehow if you look at his MySpace page......I don't get that impression. He would be my #1 canidate for de-commitment once we lose a few games, but I'm getting ahead of myself.

After reading IE on C. Thomas, Georgia and Clemson lead for his services. I would love to get McGuffie.

Lets not jump to conclusions based on a myspace account. I hear what you're saying IK, and I do see where it's coming from, but its a 17-18 year old we're talking about here.

 

I'm pretty sure anything I say beyond that could be deemed insensitive or politically incorrect, either way I go with it. So I'll just leave it at, its only a myspace, and we're dealing with juniors in HS here, so you'd better real careful when you make critical comments about a guy, particularly about their character.
