why would recruits want to go to Michigan to play for an boring old hag like Lloyd Carr who they know is going to be leaving real soon, possibly before they even get there? I can understand defensive players wanting to play for a young and energetic guy like Ron English, but even last year's nasty defense was more the result of a plethora of upperclassmen who until the later stages of their careers didn't live up to expectations. Alan Branch, Leon Hall, the LBs....they had some solid talent. Anyways, Corwin Brown is the new hot, energetic guy that is exciting recruits and allowing them to believe in him.

Not really true Russ, I think Charlie will tone down the offense a bit, but we'll definitely be playing ball control offense, with those short intermediate passes and a heavy, and I mean HEAVY dose of the running game. If the offense clicks it'll be hard for teams to score, because they wont have the ball, similar to ND-USC two years ago. Its just unfortunate they had Reggie Bush and Leinart to save their asses, lol. Not the case this year, if Corwin can get the defense to gel and actually be a force, it'll be a good season, 9-3 or 8-4. I'll take that with everything that we've lost !!!!

since CW has showed up ND has been bringing in more talent then michigan has and in '08 UM will be in the same position we are in now. in '08 UM will be breaking in a new QB, RB and a new OL while ND will be experience and loaded for talent. this will really be the last year UM can hand it to ND, cause next year and the years after that it'll be all ND.

Gotta agree with Russ on this one. I dont know if we'll get pounded but they definitely have the upper hand and will be heavily favored as they should be. They potentially have a national championship team waiting to play and we have one that is just coming together and we are playing them early in the season. If we were playing them in week 8 it would be a different story. Not being a fatalist but just being realistic.

No way will they be playing for the NC. They may have a powerful offense, but they lost enough on defense to give them problems next year, you watch. We have more than a slim chance to beat them.

Now they are getting rocked and complaining that everybody knew that the Michigan staff "cooled" on Slaughter haha it doesn't end. If we were so "irrelavant" to them they wouldn't be so obsessed with ND. Try and look at a UM from time to time and I bet everything I own that you will ALWAYS see ONE thread on a USC or UM site because we are "irrelevant".

... because Notre Dame had sealed the deal, and they knew the bell had tolled. They'd be putting their eggs in a basket thats going home with a different owner - no sense in that if you know what'll happen.

 

To give an ND perspective, Notre Dame "cooled off" on Goebel, in part because we knew that OSU & Co. did their jobs better than ND did with his recruitment.

 

Fortunately for ND, we got an even better prospect in Johnson. But I digress.

 

Unfortunately for UM, their secondary commits didn't seem to follow the lead of Boubacar Cissoko. They've followed and older and wiser defensive back, in Corwin Brown.

Thats a classic fan recruiting response. When a player goes to a schools rival the fans of the school talk about how he isnt that good, and we never really wanted them and so on and so forth. But its ok. We will take all of "Michigan's Rejects"

I think pepole talking down Clausen last year after he chose us can't be topped. That was the funniest and saddest thing I've ever seen.

Any suggestions of boards to visit? PM me if wanted instead of posting it here. I've done searches in the past for them and other schools and get so many hit to yahoo, or rival or scout boards. Me too Mike. You know, with the numbers they're losing on D, they kind of remind me of us last year, being highly ranked w/ so many questions on one side of the ball. Very few teams win it all in a season of shootouts, there has to be balance, I don't see it in UM this year like last.

UMs offense with all their weapons will endup being their saving grace, but if they ever have to relie on their defense then they could be in trouble.

If we want to talk about a pounding, then we should talk about USC, but who knows where our confidence level will be by then. That game could very well be close.

SC, based off their boards I'd say they're more worried about our grass than our team, exactly what we want, shades of 05. Who knows, we might have alot of steam and confidence by then, keep the ball, no turnovers..could be another rollercoaster ride.
