What a day yesterday, lads!!! First of all, I have to give kudos to our boy Army for having a "sachel of steel" and sticking to his guns! Well done Army, I hope you are right. What do we know as of this morning? Supposedly there were Hale sightings, but NO real confirmation. We do know that Ethan enjoyed his visit a lot. That would be huge. Some are saying that the Hale sightings were actually Ethan...they do look a lot alike! ***see below*** Could you imagine, Johnson, Slaughter and Hale!!!!!!! That would comnplete the most amazing defensive haul in what, forever? So, in conclusion, let's sort through the rubble this morning and see where we are. Who KNOWS what?

according to B&G radio they said that the most likely commit either came from mccarthy or johnson, they also said that slaughter wasn't even at ND. they said the defensive player and a few other recruites followed ND OL paul duncan to class and thats when he announced it to the class that he was going to ND. johnson was also seen having a great time with floyd, so if you ask me i think the ethan johnson rumors might be true from everything i've been reading and hearing. but unitl it's offical what do i know.

Pretty sure he meant Johnson (Ethan). Great news Russ. Like you even said..."until it's official...". What do any of us really know? And if anyone really does...please share! But I like the talk nonetheless.

Army, is it possible that your source is thinking Johnson is/was Hale?

from the pics above it would be easy to confuse johnson with hale from a distance.

Good points guys, these two do look alike, could easily be mistaken for eachother at a distance. I agree,props to Army for standing by his word, right or wrong it's appreciated. Johnson would be a huge pickup, would make my day, week, month, and offseason. He's my favorite target remaining w/ Floyd, how great would it be if we could seal it w/ these two?

This is now turning into the scene in the Thomas Crown Affair with all the guys in bolo hats. I am picturing recruits walking around campus saying things and students pretending to be recruits or spreading rumors.

 

In case anyone else needs these tangled words to be sorted out, the rumors, in order of their "publication".

 

1. Rivals poster that says someone "better than" Dan McCarthy has hopped on board, and that we won't hear anything official about it any time soon.

 

Outcome: TBD. When someone prefaces it by saying, "Won't hear about it any time soon", that usually means what it says. Maybe its a pseudo-silent commit after all (similar to reports on Darius Fleming), who knows. Know way to shoot it down, and no way to call it truth.

 

2. TAA fortells that Hale was on campus today, and has cancelled the remaining summer visits.

 

Outcome: TBD. Its starting to look like there could be complications coming from his source - the potential for identity confusion between Hale and Johnson, not to mention that Hale reportedly canceled all his visits before the previously scheduled South Bend trip. But not quite enough to stick a fork in it, and not quite enough to say, "It's TRUE!!!"

 

3. blueandgold radio rumor of a "mystery man" supervised by Paul Duncan got up in front of a class in South Bend and pledged to the Irish. Some day Ethan Johnson, others say Michael Floyd...

 

Outcome: ... and some say nobody at all, so its yet again, TBD. Brandon Newman didn't hear anything as a commitment as of last night - though he did know Ethan Johnson was doing dinner with Corwin Brown, and absolutely loving it in South Bend - hanging out with the likes of Michael Floyd 'n such.

 

Its a head scratcher alright.

Well first I would like to address an issue... My source says he had seen both but didn't distinguish between the two as when and where he saw them... Also mentioned the Ethan Johnson dinner with Corwin... Its pretty much rumor that he committed but we should hear something later today...

 

Also Slaughter is number 16 book it.

 

The source also said that he believes that Johnson is number 17 for sure.

 

He still swears up and down that he saw Hale on campus... So you guys could be right about the cancellation of summer visits but then why would he sneak off to ND... Remember when Gary Gray was in South Bend and his coach and him completely denied it after he had committed to South Carolina before he opened back up.... Its the same situation. We as Notre Dame have to respect a kids decision not to be thrown under the bus. For going back on what he said originally. So I don't think Brandon Newman would say anything either. getting johnson, floyd and hale would be the cats bannanas and its very possible. not to mention that ND is in good shape with filer and sabino. i'd like to see kevin white give CB some sort of big contract making it difficult for teams to take him away from us. since CW was the one who hired CB, that makes CW the better hire.

hey dont get crazy here...he still has to prove he can get them to play and dont underestimate the help he is getting from charlie, corwin brings the enthusiasm but cw briungs the credibility and the experience
