Posted June 9, 200717 yr I just picked up the recent college football preview magazine of a major name and it did not rank Notre Dame in the top twenty-five. What the heck is going on out there. This major publication put the top five are 1. USC 2. LSU 3. Michigan 4. West Virginia 5. Florida
June 10, 200717 yr well the sporting news is a good paper, However they just looked at what the Irish are starting the season with. a very little experience in several positions, I am glad that Michigan is rated up near the top, as after we beat the yellow jackets and then we go to the Big house and win then we will be rated in the top 10. and we shall rise in the standings., Boston College will be very tough, as will USC. I still expect the Irish to get a good BCS Bowl, FOLKS; This IRISH TEAM IS GOING TO SURPRISE A LOTS OF PEOPLE.Charlie NOW has a few horses to rumble the through the line, no more dancing, we got a few fast horses that teams will have to cover now where last year we had to rely on Brady to much. get ready the Irish will be good. Go Irish.
June 19, 200717 yr i love it.. and i do not think we deserve to be in the top 25.. but i do think this sets us up to go out and surprise some people, and possibly work our way into the top 25 by years end...
June 19, 200717 yr I wouldnt put us top 25 either i agree with Polock. ND has a lot of question marks to go with a young inexperienced offense (but talented). most every top 25 list i've seen either has ND toward the bottom or not in it at all.
June 19, 200717 yr MLC that's money....(hey I just saw "Swingers" recently)...CW has got to love it. you're so money you dont even know you're money.
June 19, 200717 yr The famous and never accurate Athlon College Preview has the Irish in the low 30's again as well. I'm pretty sure they had them in the same spot in '05. I like not being in the Top 25 this season. Why? Because it's a great starting point for a team that won't drop out of the Top 10 for another 20 years!
June 20, 200717 yr We dont even have our QB situation settled, how can we be expected to be ranked with so few returning starters?
June 20, 200717 yr We dont even have our QB situation settled, how can we be expected to be ranked with so few returning starters? Good point Ray, I think the ranking is perfect
June 20, 200717 yr Trust me, when we beat Michigan it ain't gonna matter where we ranked in the preseason.
June 20, 200717 yr Trust me, when we beat Michigan it ain't gonna matter where we ranked in the preseason. Exactly - by year end, UM will be considered a powder-puff team by all the pundits who will say we didn't play anyone very good.
June 20, 200717 yr No worries here on any rankings...this will be a year to expect the worse and hopefully we'll get some pleasant surprises in terms of wins and losses and also with seing lots of Charlies recruits see the field...i think we can do some damage and have an upset or two, but im realistic and patience that this is truly going to be a down year, but a fun one to watch...i like the underdog role we'll have and im sure CB and especially CW will use to their advantage. i know "tradition never graduates" but players do, and we lost some very good ones last year, with a "TY drought" left to fil the void.
June 20, 200717 yr I like it....I like the underdog position. I think we all know that we will be hitting our peak near mid season and by the end of the season we should be a pretty solid team over-all. If we can get some luck in the first few weeks we could be on the way to a good season.
June 21, 200717 yr Trust me, when we beat Michigan it ain't gonna matter where we ranked in the preseason. Exactly - by year end, UM will be considered a powder-puff team by all the pundits who will say we didn't play anyone very good. Well in 05 when they lost they WERE a powder-puff team who had an overinflated preseason ranking. I mean they ended like 7-5 that year so I don't know how anybody can call them a great team at all. A lot of people on this board talk about how stupid the star-rating system is for recruiting, but its just as dumb as the concept of pre-season polls. IMO polls shouldn't come out until about week 3 or 4
June 21, 200717 yr I can't disagree with that heismen but goirish68 aka Coach Dan was just pointing out what is is... I don't like it myself but that is what they do
June 21, 200717 yr when we beat tech and get to the Big House , you will see a very young Irish team that will have a lot of Big Mo. Michigan by all reports and scouting will be Lucky to win 8 games this year, , this report comes from two Mich alum that are very tired on the coach , so if he loses to the Irish , which iam sure they will , he is finished and just might not finish out the year pre these alum , understand that Lloyd wants to retire on his own after the season , son in law isn't to happy with the team either and he is a die hard fan.,. I look for the Irish to crack and stay in the top ten after beating a tough GA. tech team and beating a favored Michigan team , if Charlie turns loose those young horses and Jones at the helm , and will stay there until he can't put points on the board, then J C will arrive. go irish
June 21, 200717 yr Honestly guys, why would we be ranked any higher than in the 30's somewhere. We lost almost all of our skill players, it's moving in on the end of June and we don't have a QB, we have a whole new defense - with alot of new def players, we are still relatively thin at most postions (except QB and RB) and our schedule is front loaded so we don't even have time to get our feet wet. Man is this going to be an exciting season, I can't wait....
