Great job.

So when do baseball playoffs end?

Great job nick its going to interesting to see where he goes.

Great interview Nick. WPIAL playoffs are over for Trinity tomorrow, and overall on Wednesday. Sounds like we could have an answer soon.

I know Rock has heard he is OSU bound but I don't think you had talked to him at that point yet Nick. Any additional sense after this latest interaction or was it pretty much limited to the text you posted?

When Rock gets an insight, I'm pretty sure it's right, but for some reason I still think this one may surprise us. I'm probably wrong but hopefully not.

for all those interested in hearing about his visits/....

1) Describe your overall visit at ND? What was it like?

The overall visit was awesome. I first got on campus and met up with coach Weis where he personally took me around on the golf cart touring the campus. And then I ate lunch with coach Brown at the legends on campus then went back to the facilities and talked to Brandon Newman. Then I talked to coach Latina. It was a great trip.

2) Has the ND visit affected your decision at all?

I am not sure yet, I am still trying to decide with my parents and coaches. It was a plus but I guess I will have to just see what happens.

3) When did you plan the visit to ND? ...Read More...

Great job Nick (again). Is it just me or does it appear that Sweat is just looking for a reason to go to OSU, but can't find it. I get the feeling that in is head, he wants to go to OSU because of their LB tradition as of late, but in his heart he wants to go to ND.

My impression that is that he has some close friends going to OSU. That might be the source of his tough decision. That said, I think that he is OSU's to lose.

The way I've heard it, there's a lot to be conflicted about, and that its sort of the other way around. It sounds like, he was enamored with OSU until their spring game. Disliked the sideline environment, and the way many of their players behaved. Thats a hard thing to overcome, mentally or from a recruiting standpoint.

Notre Dame offers the business school, the "smart" 40 year decision for him, but I'm not sure he's sold on the football element. He doesn't like how poorly the defense has played, and wasn't all sold on the 3-4 just yet. So to me, it sounds like he's been in between a rock and a hard place.

I think that is right. Everything that I have read leads me to believe that he decided that he was going to OSU a long time ago. Now, he is starting to see some things that he doesn't like. Makes for a tough decision.

IMO, if I was advising him, I think that I might tell him to wait. Maybe spots will fill up in the meantime, but at least he will know that he is making the right decision.

So....if Sweat commits to ND (which I hope he does...IMO you can't have enough PA LBs around) will we go up to 5 LBs and make room for Filer? Would taking 6 LBs be out of the question? I would say in a 4-3, maybe, but I'm okay with even taking six in a 3-4.

Maybe that's the Memorial Day crazy juice talking though....

No way they take 6 lbs, and if I had to choose between 5 d-lineman and 5 lbs I think I would take 5 d-lineman.

I'll be ecstastic just to land a 4th LB. Right now, are best chances lie with Sweat, Filer then Sabino. They are all top notch recruits but none of them are anything close to being ND locks. Lets worry about getting that 4th LB before we start thinking about 5 or 6.

I don't think that we will be faced with that question. I don't think that we get Sweat or Sabino. Our best shot is with Filer, IMO.

I think we'll get Sweat and Filer.

We are not as think at ILB as people want to beleive. Toryn Smith, Mo. Crum, Paskorz, Nagel, maybe Scott Smith, Steve Quinn and others with McDonald, and Poz. coming in. It might not the most talented LB core but it isn't thin. On the outside is where I think we need more help. We have Kerry Neal, Fleming, John Ryan who is more of a DE than a OLB/DE hybrid and Anthony V. and that isn't enough for the future. I know Joe Brockington plays ILB but he wont be back when these guy hit campus. 6 is out of the question and as of now it's 4 and we'll hope for a Filer, Arthur Brown, Sabino type if we take a 5th. Recruits have mentioned that Weis wants to take 2-3 D-ends which I think we'll take 5 D-lineman more likely and more needed.

I agree with you IrishKnight. Getting a 5th d-lineman is more important than a 5th LB. But I do want to add that you forgot Brian Smith, just because he was a late offer doesn't mean he won't turn out to be a very good player.

Wow can't beleive I forgot him, he's good. He'll be playing OLB. So you see LB and DL recruiting are not even close, our DL is in major shambles. LB is pityful, but it all starts up front.

Don't sleep on Mo Richardson either. He'll be seeing some time at OLB this season, which im very excited about. I think he'll flourish in this system.

I'm not worried about LBs. When you think about the Steeler teams of the past 10 years, they were able to bring in LBs (some of which were no-names for the most part). They flourished in that system. I'm hoping that Corwin will do the same for this defense.

The key is the NG. Casey Hampton is probably the MVP of the Steeler defenses. He takes up a lot of space and allows the LBs and DBs to make plays. Everybody sees the plays, but forgets about who caused them to happen.

Thats pretty cool. You should be proud of yourself Nick.
