Nothing confirmed here but it is starting to look like Sweat was on campus this weekend. Again, no confirmation. But Sweat is also expected to make his announement real soon.

Also, NT Omar Hunter is expected to visit within the next week. This guy would be a monster get. I love landing Brandon Newman but I would say that Hunter is even better. No knock on Newman, Hunter just looks that good. Check out his videos.

Shark is right, Nick is the first person that I saw with that news.

Way to go Nick!

Keep something in mind about Omar Hunter, he is from Buford HS. That is the same HS that gave us Darius Walker. Hopefully DW provides us with some assitance on this one.

Not sure if that is good or bad..........I don't know for sure but I get the impression that Walker did not leave on the best of terms with Coach Weis, and I'm sure not being drafted only made things worse.

that's on Darius, not on Charlie. Charlie was surprised that Darius even went into the draft.

I agree, however the point is that DW might not be so inclined to help ND if he feels CW sandbagged him. Personally, I think that's a load of crap...but seems like it might be the reality of the situation.

domeananddomer rockne, I kind of agree you have to leave with a Weis impramater. Weis is off a Zooks, he can't do anything for you, yet wanny is admitting he is in the top three to NFL. Over in general I put in a post, basiclly Minter was bypassed this year for any job. (Reading if fired or not helped by Weis you are dead.) He can't be too happy his boy Brady got passed on and dissed by some of the media.

Much of that has to do with Newman's strength, which includes a 365-pound bench press and a 600-pound squat.

I would have to agree with his coach that he willbe a run stuffer.Man can he pumps some weight.Maybe he willbe like Zorich when he was benching 415 by his senior year.Newman is benching 365 at least 25 reps.Awesome pickup guys.

I would have to agree. And you know that if DW gave a 150% on every play and took a few hits for a first down.DW looked like he would let up on some plays and run out of bounds instead of taking that hit for those extra yards.IMO the NFL scouts saw that and that is one reason that he may not have been drafted.

Great point. I thought DW was a nice back, but there were several instances when he didn't lower his head to get the first down, and we ended up punting. That said, I think that each player has to follow his own path. It is great for current or former players to say how great the University is, but at the end of the day, it all depends on whether the person feels comfortable at ND.

According to that article, Forst visited this weekend too. Any word on how that went?

Here's what someone said on the irishroundtable.com shoutbox: Guest_1832 : Forst reports his ND visit was super. His excitement is genuine. Be a great Jersey guy to have. jim masterson

My biggest question with Darius is the LSU bowl game. That was by far the best I have ever seen him run. I've never seen him that fast. He was getting to the edge, and beating LSU to the edge. That was something I never saw from DW. No idea how someone can look that slow during games (some could just call is overly patient but he clearly did not have the speed) and than show pretty good speed in one game. I have no idea how or why that would be.

Darius is a prototypical third down back, the problem is that he lacks the speed at that position. Problem.

I think he still has a chance in the right system. Personally, I think a team that uses the zone blocking scheme would be perfect for him. I see him in Denver. If I heard right, he ended up with the Texans. If that is the case he gets Kubiak as his coach who came from Denver and I am assuming he uses that same blocking scheme.

I agree with Rockne about Darius.

----Moving on though does anybody know who else is visiting this week besides Goebel?

The only thing I can think of is the blocking was better due to running a "max protect" most of the first half. He did look great that first half though.

In the LSU game, I too had not seen him run that way before. I even questioned why we did not return to that scheme...especially when we pulled close. I saw their defense 'sucking' wind from trying to contain him. And given the right system...sure he could contribute.

Funny that you say that about the LSU game. I was there, and many LSU fans kept remarking hwo fast our rb was. I thought he looked fast but I reassured them he was by no means a burner and that this was not a typical performance. Then the second half began and the night went downhill. Good to see someone else noticed that too

Also many forget that Landry was suspended for the first half, and when he returned that defense was nasty like it had been all year. Hes a stud

Too bad the NFL draft is all about how good one performs at the combines and how highly you are touted by the media. Darius Walker had average combine results (except for having the best vertical leap of any RB) and was barely noticed by the media.

If it were based on the media, he would have been one of the top 10 backs drafted. The combine results - and most specifically the 40 results - are one thing, but he definitely got media attention, for sure. I saw him get personally interviewed by the guys who covered the combine on the NFL Network. He was televised on some NFL prospect All-Star challenge thing to boot on ESPN. Even if it's solely because he's a Notre Damer who jumped ship early, it was enough for him to get a lot more publicity than, say, Ahmad Bradhaw out of Marshall (7th round RB example).
