Anyone know who Brandon Leslie is talking about:

“I went to their spring game last month and they told me they were really interested, but that they just had a safety commit, so they wanted to wait and watch more tape to see if I could play corner. They came out to the camp to watch me and they were happy, so I'm hoping there’s an offer soon.

Would be a nice way to start the day...

Might be like what happened with Fleming (Verballed a few weeks before he went public).

If I had to say who it was, I'd guess it was McCarthy.

Slaughter is being recruited as a CB.

I posted this same question over on Envy, so we'll see if they heard anything.

you're right shark, forgot about mcCarthy. seems more logical.............

I don't know who/what it is but it could also be just a misunderstanding. ND could have meant that they just landed a safety, meaning Harrison Smith. Don't know but we'll probably find out soon.

I agree this could be a misinterpretation. The Spring Game was a while ago now and I keep thinking of CW's comments about no silent commits, so it would seem unlikely that if someone did commit prior to the BG game it would stay under wraps for so long IMO.

They guys st Envy seem to think the same thing.

Couldn't it be Blanton, I have heard is he all but Irish...

are we looking at him as a CB or a Safety????????

Not sure, I have seen him listed as both

are we looking at him as a CB or a Safety????????

Blanton is being recruited as a corner, so that couldn't be this theoretical safety we're talking about. I think he even plays corner in HS, so it couldn't be that either.

Leslie's phrasing is pretty awkward, so while I want to believe someone from this class verballed, I'm still too skeptical. Why would Weis's coaching staff advertise a supposed "silent commit" to another recruit, even when they weren't dealing with them as a real commit? *Scratches head* I'd need to sit back and think that one through...

I'm with Rockne on this one, and chalk it up to poor phrasing, and that its Harrison Smith who was referred to. Part it makes more sense, part it's easier to believe.

He phrases it as if we are not recruiting anymore Safeties this year, but we are, we have several offers out. My guess is that he meant this year, and I think it may be McCarthy. Only real safeties offers we have is McCarthy, and Will Hill.

Another alternative to that could be that, Charlie is saying that Harrison Smith just commited, but basically he's not good enough to get an offer playing safety because we want to reserve that spot for Will, or McCarthy.

Wasn't Weis' policy, no "soft" verbals, not silent? He said that he couldn't force the kids to go public but did expect them to stop visiting other schools. A solid verbal is a solid verbal.

I think he said you basically come out with it or dont bother

I thought he just wanted to eliminate any possibility of doubt.
