Down in South Florida, Alabama is HATED. St. Thomas Aquinas (Sam and Dan's alma mater) is where the Shula's kids go to school. Combine the way Shula was forced out and Saban lying about how he wasn't leaving for the Bama job and bad mouthing the area he lived in while he was the coach of the Dolphins, lets just say he's not well liked down there.

I don't know, I think we are in this one. There is the cluster of Fla schools with Miami out front but if he decides to go elsewhere, he'll go ND. I think, like others before him, he may play it close to the vest for a while. If his heart tells him ND, and he has a great trip and then sees a game or two of the new look Domers, think he would very likely come our way, IMHO..

Don't think he didn't know what was going on with Sam Young's recruitment. Both he and Sam are blue chip offensive tackles from the region, and to see Sam earn a starting job as a true freshman at ND... that has to look attractive to him. Not that it's the smoking gun, but its probably playing a role in his thinking... ND has a nice shot at him - not great, but good nevertheless.

I believe that Patchan is visiting this summer to ND.

I don't like to get my hopes up when it comes to landing a specific recruit, but its very encouraging to know that family members are encouraging him to consider Miami. He's a fantastic talent, and most of my cane buddies feel that Miami will be tough to beat. However, i won't count out UF here. Patchan goes to Seffner Armwood in the Tampa area, which is quickly becoming a UF pipeline (Torrey Davis last year, most likely Eric Smith this year, and Petey Smith next year). I'm not ready to start any assumptions about where he might be leaning since he has'nt taken any official visits yet. The officials will be critical to his recruitment, as will the performance of the teams he's considering during and after the season. I'd say that everybody has an equal chance right now.

Hey team I never got to tell you that miami's old coach Howard Schellenberger was at my old HS Flaget Louisville, with of course Paul Hornung then. Seen them both at HS reunions, althogh Flaget is closed now. At 75 he's a pompous pipe smoking a** he was at U of L

SJ, I just saw Hornung downtown a few days ago. Eating of course. He has gotten to be a big boy. Too many folks buying him dinner I suppose.

Patchan is not from Miami, he is from Tampa. Tampa is not the same region as Miami.
