Rivals has started to release the guys they picked for 5 star status, as we've already found out in the Kyle Rudolph thread. Figured I'd post the 5 star breakdowns here, for future reference, and for the fact that some prospects pertain to ND's interest.

Rivals, #'s 27-21

Considering the amount of publicity he was getting, I was a little surprised to see Nix in there at 26. Like I know anything about national rankings though.

The comment that stands out to me comes from Aghayere's profile.

Beyond the gridiron: Wants to major in business and marketing in college ... Has a 3.0 grade-point average and said a school's graduation rate will be important in his decision … Will turn 18 on Sept. 17.

I can't profess to be an expert on the other schools, but I do know that if graduation rates are genuinely one of his top priorities, ND will have a major selling point. And ND's business reputation doesn't hurt too. Gives a little more hope than I had on him a day ago.

Yeah let's hope that he isnt just trying to make his mom happy with that statement

I think that Floyd's name will be announced tomorrow as part of the 5 stars. I'm guessing he is our last realistic shot at a 5 star this year unless we get a very nice surprise in Brown or Hill.

I'm starting to like high 4's better than 5's anyway

I wouldn't be suprised if he gets shafted like he has been. I'm sure they'll have Buckner, Green, J. Jones, and maybe 2 more in front of him even though I think that's off.

I think Floyd ends up a 4 star with a RR of 6.0

Forston might end up a 5 star too, and we do have a realistic shot with him.

That's true IC, but I would say our chances w/ Floyd are a good bit better than Forston though I'm not counting him out either.

what happened w/our interest in brandon barnes? i know he goes to kerry neal's HS, was he never interested in us? i dont think we offered.

Hey Ziggy I posted this exact same thing in the Congratz Kyle thread but to answer your question about Barnes:

Kerry Neal said Barnes has to get his GPA up for him to have any chance to get into ND. But with that being said people 'in the know' still think if he did this we would still have our work cut out.

We aren't going to land Brandon Barnes but if we were to have a chance he would have needed to have the grades all along so we could continue to recruit him but that ship has sailed.

For RB look for us to focus on Carlton Thomas and Ryan Williams with the sleepers being Milton Knox and Jonas Gray. 1 and done IF we can land one. If this position is bare come NSD don't be too surprised

I wouldn't be a tad bit upset if we didn't have a RB commit come NSD because we could use that schollie somewhere else. If we lose out of CT then I'd be happy with us just leaving the RB position alone. Cyrus Gray is there too, but I don't know how realistic a shot we have with him.

Me too. Frankly I could care less where he's ranked, I just want him in the Blue and Gold.

3. Arthur Brown

4. Nigel Bradham

5. Will Hill

6. Marcus Forston

8. Jermie Calhoun

9. DeQuan Bowers

10. R.J. Washington

11. Aaron Williams

12. T.J. Bryant

13. Tyron Smith

14. Matt Kalil

15. D.J. Shoemate

... You've got Shayne Hale on there twice my friend :o .

That's a good list Shark and I agree with most of it. I would take out Shoemate and the second Hale and put in either Cissoko, Floyd, or Ethan Johnson though.
