With Sweat more than likely off the board, and Shayne Hale, Brendan Beal, Steve Filer and Etienne Sabino left on our want list, has anyone heard any thing promising on any of them. I feel that Hale and Filer are our best bet’s. If one or the other of those two possibly come on board…does anyone other than me feel we will set at the linebacker position? Or do we need two to consider this year complete at linbacker?

I would be very satisfied with one or both Filer and Sabino. I mean, we aren't looking bad at all with Fleming, McDonald and Posluszny at this point. The other guys simply make us that much better.

Hale has said things that makes it sound like he's hardly aware we're recruiting him... if he's not a Buckeye, I'd be surprised. PSU has a chance with him too.

 

Assuming Sweat goes to Columbus, Filer and Sabino are our best bets. I think if we make it a priority, we could land Beal, but thats a shaky proposition, since his patterns seem even more erratic than Sweat's.

Hale is not going to PSU, he has stated that he wants to leave his homestate to play at the next level. If it's anywhere other than Ohio State, I'd be willing to say it will be Florida.

 

As for our best bets, I definitely agree with Filer and Sabino. We're in great shape with both and it would not shock to see both of them in the Blue and Gold.

I hope its the up north scenario. Either way, I feel pretty good if we end up with Sabino or Filer and no one else at linebacker, to go with who we already have on board of course. But thats not to say we don't need more defensive lineman.

I think its a combo of both. Weis visited his school at one point, which was mentioned in an interview of Hale. He wasn't even sure which day Weis visited, so... I think thats pretty telling as to how much he cares about an ND visit.

Yes sir... its a new year for the Irish, so I think I'll wait before I pick "my" player for the year. Lambert was a good story last year, with his "heroics" vs. MSU, as well as logging the most minutes out of any Irish player. But thats in the past; gotta keep my mind open for 2007.

I don't want to wax poetic or anything, but the difference is Rock's old style helmet - fitting given his tenure with DD - and my new age helmet - fitting given my (and this is self proclaimed) "young buck" status. Though Nick here is really the young buck, so he might come down hard on me...

 

It'll all change soon enough. I've got a Zbikowski one I like, though like I said, I'll wait 'til right before the season starts to pick "my guy". Then the confusion'll be gone.

i agree with Indy here. filer and sabino seem to be our best bets right now and would make a killer duo. i'd love to see beal come aboard but i think that is just wishful thinking.
