Will Hill's listing says...

Notre Dame just getting started in N.J.

Charlie Weis, who recently picked up a pledge from Garden State junior Hafis Williams, hopes to reel in a few more 2008's from his native state, the South Bend Tribune reports.

ESPN's current No. 1 overall prospect ATH Will Hill (Saint Peter's, Jersey City), ILB Brandon Beal (Roxbury, Succasunna), and OT Art Forst (Manasquan, Manasquan) are also on the Irish's wish list.

This February, Notre Dame signed two Class of 2007 ESPN 150 prospects from New Jersey in WR Duval Kamara (Hoboken, Hoboken) and TE Mike Ragone (Camden Catholic, Cherry Hill).

The only one we have a chance with out of those 3 is Forst

I'd like to think we'd have a shot at Hill and Beal, but I don't think its going to happen. I think we'd need go go on a tear during the season to attract Hill, and by then I think we're wrapped up recruiting DB's. And with Beal, we might be all wrapped up too early for him too. He's not quite good enough to "make room" for, IMO, and we may have LB locked up by the time he wants to commit, his birthday in October.

That's the kind of shocker/statement we need to make this year... bringing in a kid like Will Hill out of nowhere

I'm a bit of a big game hunter; I'm hoping its the best prospect in the country; Arthur Brown... and I'd settle if it were Forston :D . But this is about Jersey.

Do you think we stop going after Forst with Clelland on board? When you look at our roster, we've only got 2 true guards, Wenger and Olsen. We've plugged some guys from other positions there for the time being, but with a C and a T on board, and one of the two C prospects probably ending up at guard, doesn't it seem like we need more? And that Forst won't come to ND as a guard?

EDIT: Apologies if I'm echoing myself here. I'm pretty sure I've mentioned something about this before.

i agree, i said from the beginning that Will Hill will not be attending ND, but say we did Wow him over the year. He's the one prospect that a schollie would be opened up for. Along with Forston and Arthur Brown.

I just wanted to throw the article out there and get people's thoughts.

I think Beal's off the radar and that Forst is the best case scenario, but I'm not even sure we're going to get him.

I thought Carufel was a guard?

He is... Wegner was a center and will likely return there. I think Bemenderfer gets a schollie and will get PT as an extra in the interior.

Off topic but, I also agree with this. I've read a couple different articles where different writes have said he looked good and fit in with the line well. Would be a big plus if he earned a spot.

ND will get none of these three.

Sorry about the name screw up: Carufel and Olsen are our only two "true" guards. Bemenderfer will probably see PT there, but I remember reading he was a tackle at Northwestern, yet he's penciled in as the backup C with Wenger playing G for the year... its a little confusing.

Maybe my wish for guards is coming true; scout's ND affiliate a some story posted about three of the coaches going to visit Kenneth Page - including CW. While he's a HS tackle, it sounds like he'll play wherever coaches want, and most guys think his natural college position is guard, kind of like a Trevor Robinson instance.

When almost half the # of coaches that can be on the road recruiting at the same time show up at your door, including Weis, that usually means, "We're going after you hard." I just think with Clelland, we stop going as hard after Forst as we have been... oddly enough, making Beal the most likely NJ prospect to join Hafis - which isn't very likely.

I'm assuming both Golic and Cave will be G/C's so as far as numbers are concerned it should be ok. Plus, mostthe best linemen are projected as Tackles in high school but it doesn't mean they won't end up playing guard in college. I think picking up clelland only makes us more likely to go after the best of the best because of his versatility.

That means we will continue to woo Forst. Charlie has too much pride in NJ thing to give up on him or hill yet. I actually wouldn't mind never hearing him talk about "Jersey Guys" this and that ever again. It's kind of annoying.

Good point about Weis' Jersey pride. Getting one this year isn't enough for him to hang his hat on the Jersey notion, and he still feels the sting from missing on Trattau and Cushing.

If we get a big-time surprise commitment this year (and I think we get one)...it'll be from Jersey. Weis has got to have a lot of connections over there and a great deal of influence over the H.S. coaches

If I never heard the name Trattou again it would be too soon.

Amen to that, DomerDude. I thought our surprise was Crist, but we could get another, hopefully Will Hill. I know chances are slim, but a guy can dream can't he. Forst is probably Rutgers. Its pissin me off that UF and SC are pulling guys from jersey in. Beal is down to Florida and SC. When we played SC last year, 3 of their TDs came from Jersey guys.
