will or can Zibby return to form that made him great in 05?Although Zbikowski actually improved his tackle totals last season, he didn't deliver the big plays that had helped make him one of the nation's most exciting players.

"I just wasn't happy with the way I played at all, really," Zbikowski said. "I have too much pride to leave on that type of note."

I think that zibby wasn't really into many of the games last year, with the injury to his shoulder, His play at best was sporadic, and appeared to be out of position on several plays., I look for him to be very aggressive this season to bump his chances up in the draft, otherwise, he might as well give up football and try for a boxing career. during spring practice, i noticed a much more aggressive guy. i hope he brings that same attitude to fall camp or we will have to find a replacement? what say you. ? :)

I GUARANTEE he has a breakout year barring injury, hes extremely determined and will make a huge impact for that defense this year

Zbikowski returns to form. That is, so long as he doesn't play banged up again. I think he's focused on reclaiming the name he had, while trying to improve his draft stock.

i second that notion!

Corwin Brown has been speaking very highly of him. I hope he plays like he did in '05.

I believe he will be better than we've ever seen him as long as he is healthy. I remember reading an article about him that he hurt his groin last year on top of the shoulder injury so that is why he didn't perform to expectations this last year.

Barring injuries he will prove himself to be a top DB in NCAA this year. His special teams heroics may not be needed if we get some other returners to fill that gap and then he can focus on dominating at Safety. I have a feeling he will be a guy who benefits greatly from Brown's defense.

New slogan for him

Zibby 07' - Bring it!

i read an article a few weeks ago where zibby admitted to having a bad groin injury the whole year, one that would have sidelined an NFL player according to his doctor or something. I was happy to hear that because i thought the shoulder excuse didn't explain the lack of plays in pass coverage.

Β

Also, i hope he realizes his boxing weight and football weight shouldn't be the same. He looks too big up top. Look at guys like Laron Landry. He should be this year's CW Weight Loss Player

2005 - Mo Stovall

2006 - Ndukwe

I didnt want to be the first one to say that but I totally agree with you, he looks too big. If he could lean up over the summer he will become quicker out of cuts. I expect that will happen actually.

That extra muscle mass puts more strain on ligaments and tendons. I think its a large part of why we see NFL players get hurt so often, with guys like Corell Buckhaulter blowing out a knee on three different occasions. I'm no doctor, but it may have had something to do with the groin strain Zbikowski dealt with.

So long as he shows the same speed and agility he had two years back, we'll be very pleased with his results once again. Now if only we could have a scenario where he busts the game wide open like he did against USC... thus far my favorite punt returner I've ever witnessed at the collegiate level.

Buffalo Grove pride! Go Zibby.

I love watching him return punts...he's kind of suprising to see back there because of how big he is compared to a typical PR. He rarely goes down on first hit and noone wants to hit him head to head.

When did Zib have a groin strain?

Before the season opener:

Β

"It was like the muscle around my pelvic bone had inflammation,'' he explained. ''I could barely finish practice toward the bowl game. When I was coming out of breaks, I felt slower. I felt the pain when I was reaching up trying to catch balls."

Β

So yeah, it wasn't just our imagination. He did look slower, and he was playing hurt.

this line from the article is why i have higher hopes for him this year....

Β

"But that wasn't the injury that nagged Zbikowski the most. Before the season opener against Georgia Tech, he suffered a groin injury that specialists told him was capable of sidelining an NFL player for a season. Zbikowski played through it."

Didn't know about the preseason injury. Zibby is one tough SOB.
