The "Golden Era" of Defense
Al Golden was Marcus Freemanβs choice to become his defensive coordinator after Freeman became Head Coach. Golden has turned out to be a wonderful choice. His leadership experience coaching both at the NFL and college level has resulted in a scheme that is player driven and uses the defenses strengths to limit the high-powered spread passing attacks that have become popular across the nation. Good luck to the Irish tonight!
Kenja ·If they can do to the Buckeyes the same thing that happened to some recruiting narratives where assistant coaches were vilified ND will be fine. Al Golden: The coachi that wasn't recruiting hard enough and that one particular platform suggested had been βforcedβ on Marcus Freeman by Jack Swarbrick. Chris O'leary: Curse him for helping to produce All-Americans, Shuler to follow, and making Ivan Taylor want to play for him. Al Washington: Ruined a great DL recruiting class setup by Mike Elston.
The only upsetting trend we've witnessed thus far in this recruiting class is the misses at offensive line. Names like Stephen Good, Michael Adams, Brandon Washington, Trevor Robinson, J.B. Shugarts, and Michael Brewster have all turned down ND offers. Others that have offers don't appear to be very interested in ND, such as Kyle Long, Khaled Holmes, and Josh Jenkins.

When put in that perspective, hearing news like THIS from a top OT/OG prospect is very, very welcome.
