At least one NFL team has found out that it won't need the luck of the Irish to lure away Charlie Weis from Notre Dame. Weis' six-year contract at Notre Dame includes a modest $1.5 million buyout. The buyout means that, despite the fact that he has one of the country's most heralded recruiting classes coming in next season, Weis has positioned himself to leave Notre Dame after this season for the NFL if he so chooses. Should Weis cap Notre Dame's impressive season with a win over Tennessee and then another win in a major bowl game, he could vault himself into the No. 1 coaching prospect on the radar of NFL owners.

Found In Sports Illistrated (Truth and rumors)

These type articles seem to always garner attention at Notre Dames expense. ABC ESP are chatting they would not be surprised if Brady Quinn enters the NFL draft (Skipping Senior year.)

These really disgust me. They are talking from those people they are intimate with. Greedy Coaches and Punk Athletes. They tend to feel all is that way in their sordid little world.

What did Brady say at the Presser after the BYU game? He would be back. What has Coach Weis said and done? He would retire in 10 years to his condo on the East Coast. He likes South Bend he and his wife discussed moving and raisng two children there. His son will be going into High School soon and you better believe Coach Weis wants him to go to Notre Dame.

Coach Weis took the Notre Dame job as he loves the place. Says it's easier then the Pros and he has more time with his family. He took Notre Dame from, admit it, a garbage pile and cataputed it back even better then it has been is so long a time.

Search all you want even at Sports Illistrated you will find hardly any mention of sday Coach Billichik. Good Lord, Weis and Notre Dame doings are all over the media.

He has no 'Second in Command' in place yet at Notre Dame. Would after all the above would he cause Notre Dame harm by leaving suddenly? Hurt a place he works in his wife and children live in?

Getting back to bucks dangled? Sure that will happen. There's a current Coach in Louisville who lied his head off and was wooing other schools prior to this year.

As I recall to assemble his outstanding staff he made sure the boosters at ND opened the check book. He's thinking of his guys and his School. After next year Ty get's no more two million and that should free up even more money from boosters.

I want to add something cause I'm seething.

First a little question to "talking Heads at ABC, ESPN SI. Do any of you simplistic cynics know what a "Man of Honor" means? I don't mean the "Mafiosa" types 'men of honor' you know.

I'm talking about an honorable man that gave his word to a Montana Child that died in one helluva risky situation.

I'm talking about an honrable man that would not have taken the ND job if he could not do "Due Dilligence" to both organizations. (Read he could have left Patriots high and dry for Notre Dame at once.)

I'm talking about an honorable man that surprised his son by going to the So Cal locker room with his son to teach him a valuable lifes lesson.

Just like Toby here at DD asked for a copy of what Coach Weis did regarding his son and So Cal locker room to pass on that to his son.

Here's my $.02 First of all I don't think Coach Weis will leave right away. He could have had an NFL job last year if he wanted and he chose ND. Now, I wouldn't say that it could never happen. There is no way to predict what will happen 2 or 3 years down the road. Remember Willingham won 10 games his first year too and there were NFL teams sniffing around for him. Obviously the difference between Willinghams good start and Coach Weis's good start is that one was with smoke and mirrors and one is with preperation, hardwork, effort, and good coaching. Let's say after 3 years Weis has just won his 2nd National Championship and the Giants job comes available and he has a chance to go back there and coach Eli Manning and they offer 6 milion a year. Who could blame him?? I sure wouldn't. I love ND to death but the bottom line is the bottom line. I know Weis has said he plans to be at ND for 10 years and I believe him and I don't think he is motivated by money but circumstances change. I don't blame ESPN and SI etc... for these types of stories. the news media mentality has infiltrated our sports world for better or worse. people in the media both in sports and in regular news have went from reporting what actually happend to reporting what they think will happen, what they think should have happened, what they think could happen, or just plain report what their angle of what actually happened as fact. the bottom line is this. ND has the best coach in college football hands down. Whether he was the 2nd choice or 22nd choice does not matter. as long as he is here ND will be a top 10 team every year. if coach Weis chooses to challenge himself at the highest level down the road, i for one would be dissapointed but wish him well. he's given ND fans like myself more to cheer for and get excited about in the last 10 mos than davie/willingham did in 8 years. I believe Weis is a man of his word and will be at ND for years to come however the reality of it is we now have the hottest girl in school and there will be competition. take it as a compliment and enjoy Weis and what he has done, is doing and will do as long it lasts. I for one will not worry about Weis leaving I will enjoy every "pass right" and "go into the competion's locker room to teach his young son a lesson" moment as long as it lasts. It's going to be a fun ride.

:) Well said Toby well said. More than 2 cents worth :)

We haven't finished our Honeymoon and they are discussing divorce.

It's the 'money only' Chest thumping, show boating dancers in NFL. Coach Weis has his plans 10 years, then Hannah foundation and farm. As he said his wife and he discussed how to take care of her after they both died. I think they are just used to the...who was it TO who wanted to re do a 40,000,000 contract? I mean like Jay Leno, just how many cars and motercycles do you need to be "happy?"

Of course what he does he does. :D But these jaded viewpoints without respect to honor or thinking of your legacy you leave behind and impressions on your own children disgust me.

Recalling his comment "I can pick up a phone and get any GM in the NFL to say look at my kid." Recalling all his NFL contacts, the NFL guys at ND/So Cal Game, I'd say he's more valuable to NFL where he is. :D

OK it's a no brainer that Brady Quinn will end up #1 draft choice after next year. I'm an NFL GM and no way I can draft the biggies. A call from Charlie, Ok I have this overlooked kid you can snap him up for beans in the 6th round...he's a winner. :D Umm dunno if it's legal for them to donate bucks to Hannah Foundation for calls like that? :D Should be.

One thing top to bottom Coach Weis and crew is operating a real Pro Style system. No gimics, spread, etc and Blah Blah...The guys drafted have little to re learn entering the Pros. (Plug and Play) :D

FYI

Notre Dame Fan Blogs over in Yahoo. (Click Yahoo news then type Notre Dame.. Blogs on right side) are reporting tha6t some of this NFL talk is being fanned by Notre Dames Opponents in the recruiting Wars.

It is a factor I did not think of when I originally posted this NFL story above. Thinking also now he has an' issue' with one recruit as stated in his Presser. Also the Magnificent Seven go on the road recruiting and may include Weis himself Thursday and Friday.

I am wondering what, if any, damage this type rumor causes Notre Dame?

It didn't hurt Saban at LSU and it doesn't seam to bother Ferentz at Iowa. I think it can only help. Recruiting is a dirty business. Every coach out there knows if ND is rolling they will dominate recruiting. Even Davie and Willingham pulled in a few top classes from time to time. If your the coach competing against Weis and ND what can you honestly offer the recruit. More coaching knowledge? NO. More NFL opportunities? NO More exposure? NO. A better education? NO. What does that leave? Money, mudslinging, girls, maybe the weather. They are desperate and I love it.

:D All too true Toby :D I mean holy Smoke, Land sakes alive I never thought this would happen wso soon. :) Good gracious sure talk will come but we are only half way through year #1

They must fear us. :D

The "Rock" was stating he would not report "speculation." That is to say NFL rumors or who leaves early. More or less that it becomes factual in itself.

As a newshound of sorts I do disagree with him/her. It has already as I pointed out been with talking heads and in print at 'Spits' Illistrated. It's all over Notre Dame chatboards. To ignore it is to delibertely stick you head in the sand like an Ostrich. (We sort of did that under President Monk, Davie and Ty.)

If your into News, even as a fan it is your duty to report the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. You don't pretend things being said are 'not out there' simply because you love your team. You don't pretend it might impact upon recruiting because indeed it's out there and continued silence might mean basis for that rumor.

While I didn't give 101 reasons any talk like that is trash I gave a number of reasons why it is trash and I have confidence in Coach Weis staying the road. I addressed the talking heads, "Spits" Illistrated, etc which are a bit bigger then I, DD here or the "Rock."

I did, once again expect all this but so soon? We sure are "hated" now. :D These 'people,' I suppose it's like Corso? Trashing us then suddenly Wo we are behind you now but still wanting to put you back down where Davie Ty had us.

These kind of people are to be avoided. I do recall a Stepson who was always getting into fights and arguments with some neiborhood kids. For a while he would avoid them but then drift back with a "We are all going to be friends now." Of course they fell out again and again. I finally told him "Look, although I don't want to say this your being stupid. Once stabbed in the back never trust that person again no matter what he/she says. If they did it once they will do it again later." (The milk of forgiveness runs out if done repeatedly.)
