IrishCalves
With Rudolph already committed, Fauria is one of the three remaining candidates for the 2nd TE that Weis wants to bring in: http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=109&p=8&c=1&nid=2993715 If the name seems familiar to NFL enthusiasts, (Edit: His uncle) Christian played for Weis during their Super Bowl run together with the Patriots. Another interesting connection: he's been friends with another West Coast prospect, Dayne Crist, since he was 10. Any other insights and/or opinions on how he fits into the subject of Notre Dame recruiting?
NDFan3
Fauria would be an excellent get for us. He's huge (recently measured in at 6'9"), and I've been told that he's got very soft hands. If we got Rudolph and Fauria, that be unreal. I've also heard that Fauria's family is very religious...always a good thing to here for a Catholic university. dangeruss
here's a free video from rivals under the name "Fauria picking up offers", i think you'll be very pleased at how good fauria is. http://notredame.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=59015
IrishCalves
6'9"! Not to discredit your source, but I hope that is wrong, and that he really is 6'7" (as scout reports). When you get that tall, it starts to get very difficult to get low enough on d-lineman to block effectively.
Guest grover
I dont know ... I love the idea of bookend 6'7"+ tight ends Hello red zone offense!
reneg
Not trying to be extremely negative, but he is pretty soft. Considering his size 6'8" 242, I figured I was going to see him break some tackles by DB's (who are generally at most 180 in high school), yet he always went down on first contact. Although he did show the ability to get open and showed soft hands.

Don't worry, Fauria disputes the measurement as well and says he's just a bit over 6'7". Either way, the kid will be one hell of a redzone weapon. I know, I wasn't stating that a guy can't improve. However you have to realize your statement holds true on both ends. The guys tackling him are in the same boat in regards to lack of elite weight training and dieting. I am not saying he can't become a great player by any means, he has some of the physical tools already there. I was just making an unbiased observation of his highlight video. dangeruss
here Joseph Fauria says he's a diehard ND fan and always wanted to play there and even more so now that CW is the head coach. this all sounds very promising. http://notredame.scout.com/2/636413.html
MikejND
Reneg you're right, they may be in the same boat in high school but you have to put size into play. He's 6-8 242, and these defensive backs are 5'11 175 or more. They both can lift, but Fauria's body frame is capable of handling a lot more than a 5'11 defensive back. Guys that size, fill out quicker than bigger guys, such as Fauria. That's what the coaches meant when they said Kellen Wade had the frame to reach up to 280. It's like comparing a gallon, to a half gallon, you fill them both with milk, the smaller reaches it's capacity a lot faster than the other, allowing the bigger, to handle more weight. D Fence
Russ - thanks for sharing the clips. Some of those early catches were pretty far downfield, which shows he can get open and make the grab. He'll get strength and put on some weight, but the other thing you want to look for at this position is someone who can run, and it looks like he can. He'll also get coached up on technique for blocking purposes.
tchris555
if he really has always been an ND fan then he's Irish. Normally i'd think Rudolph, Ragone, etc. might scare him away but Charlie has demonstrated a willingness to play multiple TE's (unlike RB's), while also grooming them as well. Guest irishrick
nice find Russ, i watched him several times he would be a good pick if he takes Notre dame , i do question , he looks a little soft on film, needs to build his leg strength , as he runs agets hit and falls down , this can be over come with the strength coach fella named Ruben , the guy that showed me the most was the Little halfback, he is a hole hitter, as for the big guy he would be a 3 star at best, , the fella needs lots of strength work . just my obs ervation of this film . what say you
irishziggy
i cant see how he's soft though. from watching that clip, he never got lit up by the DBs, his coordination and balance probably isnt up to par yet. Try being 6'8 running at a 5'11 guy who goes right for your legs. It's gonna be really tough to get low enough to break hist tackle. And everytime he was tackled he was turning around as he was catching it. The guy made some nice blocks on the film as well. I like him and I hope his grandfather stays in his ear about going to ND. NDFan3
I loved all of Fauria's comments, except for the part about the schools closer to home having an edge. IMO that could be our downfall here. However, with CW, his uncle, our TE friendly offense, and a great visit, he could easily be Irish. So, this pretty much all comes down to the visit and whether or not he feels comfortable in IN. Hopefully Reuland can help him out a bit. Also, it's great to hear that we'd be in Page's top 5. If we are able to get Forst and Page, that would conclude another very good OL class. It looks like GG being at ND will have some influence on Page's decision, which is obviously good to hear.
Guest Hejduk23
Here's the thing that I find VERY interesting. If you watch the free clip on Crist where he is throwing at the combine, he is throwing several balls to Fauria (I believe). They profess to having a great friendship (you can tell by the clips too). If we do get Crist tomorrow, then I think Fauria is a done deal. Our offense will be unstoppable. QB and TE "U"! If Crist goes elsewhere (USC) so will Fauria. JMO!!!! Our offense will be unstoppable. i would agree with that. i also think by the 2008 season our offense will be hard to stop, thats if we can land some talented WRs in this class. I can't believe landing top WR's has been an issue. We all assumed we'd be able to pick and choose 2-3 5 star guys a year.
