Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame linebacker Anthony McDonald (6-3, 220) had been hinting at committing to Notre Dame for some time.

All that kept him from it was taking a visit to South Bend. McDonald arrived today and made his decision.

"Anthony wanted me to let you know he committed today," said Mike McDonald, Anthony's father.

McDonald is the top middle linebacker in California and part of a talented Knights team that also boasts another Irish target, quarterback Dayne Crist.

per scout

YES!!!!! sorry, really wanted him. I'll get the interview done by Monday guys

f*ck yeah, now Fleming and Filer follow the leader. I would love to get or LB recruiting over this weekend and then just focus guys like Hale and A Brown. good day.

Effing Sweet. Welcome to the familia McDonald.

Welcome to the ND Family, Anthony McDonald!!!

Best 40 year decision you could have made.

You will get an Ivy league education along with a chance to play for a National Championship before your time on campus is through.

After you graduate, you can, if you've worked hard enough and dedicated yourself, have a chance at the NFL, and if that falls through you will have a network in the business world that is second to none and is worldwide.

2 Rivals 250 LB's and in great shape with 2 Rivals 100 LB's.

Yikes.

Excellent news! Welcome to ND Anthony, may all your dreams come true.

Scotty, you must be double excited about this one. Representing your home state, Southern Cali. Anthony is the man, hes a really loose guy and smart. Not to mention hes a GREAT football player. He'll fit in very well at ND, congrats to Anthony. Scotty, btw i saw my cousins and aunt and uncle this weekend...from Fullerton, CA. They said Sherman Oaks was in the valley, and they weren't to close to Ventura County. Im curious to see where all these Cali spots are on a map.

Nick, Fullerton is in Orange County, close to Disneyland. Sherman Oaks is in the southern part of the San Fernando Valley...lying between Ventura and Orange counties, within the Los Angeles county.

Regardless of the various opinions regarding Anthony...he is a huge get for us. If we can take a good look between the lines...it says plenty about the positive direction we are going recruiting wise, and even more about the 'condoms' losing a legacy...IMO? Yes, the argument will be that once SC offers, he will decomit...but I do not feel this to be the case. Alot happening here. Condom fan will also point out that they are already loaded at the position, and that they will restock with others of more value? And to this I say...don't you believe a word...this is a big loss for them, no matter how you spin it.

We value you Anthony. And to you and your family, we welcome you to ours...The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame!

looks like the Irish have really got something going old Charlie is putting together a great team keep it up go Irish :D

How is it a big loss, they never even offered

This is a good pickup but i dont see why people are tryin to make this appear to be more than it actually is, USC did not want him that bad so we stole nothing here

Its possible to get a commit from a really good player in CA without "stealing one from Petey", sometimes coaches have different preferences

Corwin YOU THE MAN!

Welcome to ND McDonald!!! 2 Lbs early! :drunk:

welcome to the Notre Dame family Anthony.Enjoy your 4yrs at ND.ya now I will have a Beer also. :drunk:

Maybe not a really big thing in regards to the actual recruit himself, just the 'legacy' issue. But again...it is all about an opinion. Besides, SC fan was expected to openly brush this off. IMO!!! Good call on your part though.
