Posted April 8, 200718 yr Anyone know what's going on with Sam...? Very quiet on him lately after 100+ replies to a topic on him couple months ago...hope not indicative of him most likely committing elsewhere.
April 23, 200718 yr I guess he won't be deciding with his teammate, if the rumors are true about Shugarts going to tOSU. Sam hasn't even gotten offered by them, and more than likely won't since they have Torrence in the fold, and said they'd stop looking at other backs if they got him. Given this development, where do you think he's at?
April 23, 200718 yr tOSU recruited Torrence as a RB? I just assumed that they were bringing him in as a LB.
April 23, 200718 yr Scout has him listed as a RB for the Ohio St. commits. And if they get guys like Zordich and Sweat, then no contest Torrence comes in as a RB. What I've read has me thinking USC and Texas A&M are in the lead for McGuffie, but I've only read small snippets on him. Anyone else got a feeling about him?
April 23, 200718 yr He would be nice but with the guys we have does it really matter? We have a couple of guys back there that will be definite Sunday players. We are on the verge of something huge. We are recruiting NFL prototype players as far as size goes. After Lil' Tuna gets finished coaching them up then we will have MORE ambassadors in the NFL which definitely helps with recruiting. Don't worry. I can safely say that the recruiting that has happened for the last 5-6 years has just improved dramatically and will continue to be a strong point for the rest of Weis' and Brown's tenure.
April 23, 200718 yr chiro: can never have enough talent...must stock the cupboards this year and every year....there is too many unknowns: injuries, transfers, personal problems to feel "all set" anywhere. like the blue gold game (not that its an indicator) but all my friends who went said junior jabbie looked like the best player on the field, and all us at DD give him nary a mention when it comes to discussing the backfield situation. bring in the talent and find spots for them.

I am guilty of the non mentioning of Junior here. What is worse, is that next to defense...I am fond of the running back corps. Lets hope we can keep adding in this area consistently.
April 23, 200718 yr I'm very happy for Junior Jabbie. Sounds like he has worked exceedingly hard and it's paying off in "second life." While it's easy to get excited about him, I'm not putting too much stock in his performance. It was just a scrimmage. Not sure if he would be able to replicate it in a game type situation. Not sure of the competition. Wasn't he going against the #2 defense on most of his long runs? Above all, Jabbie was not even with the team last year was he? I guess my main point if he were this good, why wasn't he doing it before. I know people come into their own, but I still think he is #4 on the depth chart. Could he move up? Sure, but it reminds me of Dorsey Levens. Holtz always called him his best, all-around back. However he never saw the field. He had fumble issues and never really was able to put it together. The primary thing I like about Jabbie is that his performance this Spring will push the marquee guys like Aldridge and Allen to raise their level of play. That's what competition does. Had they all been around last year and been injury free, I think we would have seen greater effort from Darius Walker. Let's face it, he was pretty much our only option all year.
May 1, 200718 yr the porn seems to be getting worse. god bless you mods for having to deal with this crap.................
May 1, 200718 yr Schell, i thought you had some great news on sam!!!!! i click on it and all i get is oliver
May 9, 200718 yr Does anyone know if he is Buckeye bound with Shuggarts? I am hoping this is our speed WR for the class...and KR...and situational RB...and spot cover corner...and punt returner ANY INFORMATION IS APPRECIATED.
May 9, 200718 yr Does anyone know if he is Buckeye bound with Shuggarts? im not sure. if mcguffie doesn't come to ND (which i think is doubtfull) i'd like to see him go to WVU.
May 9, 200718 yr ohio state hasnt offered yet from what i last saw. i think it was just rumors that they were going to the same school. i think they just wanted to do their recruiting together not necessarily attend the same school.
May 9, 200718 yr he just narrowed his list to thirteen schools. ohio state did not make that list. we did.
May 9, 200718 yr I would love to get this kid...if not I hope he is not on our schedule. hey Russ what makes you think he'll be at ND, you seem to give a lot of good info.
May 10, 200718 yr he just narrowed his list to thirteen schools. ohio state did not make that list. we did. glad he "narowed it down" to just 13 schools....
May 10, 200718 yr Sam is loving this! He is just sitting back and Laughing.. But he is a bad ass athlete and frankly he can do what he wants.. sam please come to ND....
May 10, 200718 yr i don't care what the offense thinks they will do in the next two seasons. if that D is not up to snuff, we will be talking about a 6-6 season in 07. McGuffie would be a good get, but not imperative. I would like to see the RB for 08 be a big back with good quicks. Golden and Armando have speed on returns and AA will be a feature with Aldridge and Hughes in the next two years. Thomas will handle the load this season. if given the choice, i want Beal, Filer, Newman etc. I want the team of old. give up 8 points a game. let the offense catch up with the D for once. Just my opinion
June 16, 200718 yr We don't seem to be listed anymore for McGuffie on rivals. Any news that I already missed? And while we are talking running backs, Scout has Carlton Thomas with 1 star, but showing offers from us, USC, Auburn, West Virginia, and Iowa and a total of 9 offers. Is this just scout playing catch up on their star rankings?
June 16, 200718 yr ND was never in it with McGuffie. Rivals will update a players offer list after speaking with them. They do not show every school that has offered him, only the schools that they perceive have a shot (based on their own conversations with that player). For example, a Rivals mod for Irish Illustrated recently spoke with Carlton Thomas who gave him a list of 7 schools that he was still interested in. So now his Rivals profile no longer shows USC on there even though they offered him a scholarship. He just doesn't want to go to USC (God bless him!) Carlton Thomas will be a 3 star for Scout just as he is for Rivals. Scout doesn't have their 3 stars up yet I guess. I think these talent evaluators are looking at his height and ignoring his tremendous ability. I take comfort in the fact that USC, Arkansas, & Auburn offered him. Do these schools know a thing or two about RBs??? Hmmm, lets see: Reggie Bush, Darren McFadden, Carnell Williams, Ronnie Brown......I'll trust their judgment over the evaluators at Scout & Rivals.
