tdnd81
Rick, you have been positive for months.. I think to be in the top ten we would only have 1 loss maybe 2! I hope you are right Rick but we still have to get by Michigan. A much improved Penn st. BC, "we better beat them" and those cheaters from cal........... UCLA
Guest heismancaliber
We're replacing basically our entire offense No way in hell we finish top
IrishGuy
We're replacing basically our entire offense No way in hell we finish top 10 The fact that we are replacing basically our entire defense form last year is what give me hope that we will finish higher than expected. Yago
Irishrick, I have to agree with you. The key to a successful ‘07’ season will hinge on the first 3 games. If they can come together as a team and garner success from those 3, then look for a surprise with a table running finish. Never sell the Irish short and don’t underestimate Coach Weis! As always; major injuries to key players and all bets are off.
Irish_WIN
I have to agree with IrishGuy about replacing our entire defense, but both the D-line and O-line worry me. Replacing most of the other D is a good thing for us and should help us out. heisman, I understand you are really down on ND in general, but Weis is recruiting players that can be starters/impact players. It's called being realistic, I'm not gonna start to get excited until i see BCS wins. To put it in perspective, I'm a diehard LA Lakers fan, and when you've grown accustomed to winning titles, simply making the postseason isn't good enough anymore. Now some teams (lets say, the Raptors for example) are happy with just making the playoffs. But the Lakers are above that. ND is the type of school with the prestige to expect titles and BCS wins and I act accordingly.
Guest irishrick
heismancaliber, yes i agree with your comments, HOWEVER, these other teams have similar problems, sure we got some holes to fill, but we got a little talent and speed and a fresh new look on defense, it won;t be the same as last year, zibby will have to get more physical and he has added a few pounds, but he will get some help that will make this irish defense a little better than last year, , i still think that we can beat michigan in their big house, some people will call it an upset, ok so be it , i call it a refreshed notre dame football team, that is going to fool a lot of so called experts and Mays types., top ten is my projection, the michigan game will be the turnaround game. Boston college and USC will be the toughest games, again if we can get on a roll and i think we will we could beat Boston college, go irish
Guest irishrick
penn state has loaded up on players nearly all of there recruits are well over 6' and pretty good size with some speed, they are going to be tough, i see that there is a good possibility that as many as five could see a lot of action in the game with us as they have a tuneup game with fla. int. just before the irish come calling. , have some very good talent ???? got to take another look at these fellas when spring opens up . Guest rocketsan22
This will be a year to separate the true fans from the bandwagoners... I think it's going to be a realy tough go for the blue and gold and I have no expectations for success. HOWEVER, that being said, the last time I felt this way was 1993 and we all know how THAT turned out. Maybe this bunch of overachievers will hang tough like the '93 boys did... I'm convinced that the O-line can't be any worse than last year's. Defense will be the key this season. We'll move the ball, but can we stop the bad guys from moving back on us? My crystal ball is still foggy right now.
Guest irishrick
lets take this one at a time. the irish defense will be 50% BETTER THAN LAST YEAR, THE OFFENSE WILL SPUTTER AT qb TIL THIS GETS the IRON HOT, THE RUNNERS WILL BE BETTER THAN LAST YEAR, WE HAVE A LOT OF ROOKIES WITH SIZE AND SPEED THAT WASN'T AVAIL BEFORE, I SAY ONE MORE TIME NOTRE DAME WILL FINISH THE SEASON IN GREAT SHAPE AND EARN A TRIP TO A BCS BOWL, and with a little irish luck could end up in the top TEN. don't count this irish team out........................ go irish----- lets start with GT, then PSU and roll over Michigan ,. again believe this IRISH TEAM , will succeed. Guest bfabes05
I have decent expectations, but Im not going to get my hopes up, replacing all the guys on offense will be tough, but Carlson coming back is huge, plus I think Corwin Brown will revive the defense and make them respectful finally, first few games are key especially since our team is young, I dont see us getting past both Michigan and Penn State, but if we can win one of those games, that would be pretty good, UCLA on the road will be tough, but I like our chances against SC as long as were in good shape by that 8th game, should be a great atomosphere like a few years ago

Guest irishrick
I have decent expectations, thats it exactly, The irish will be a very good team, perfect season heck no , but i think that they will beat the mark mays of the world, i still say this team will be very competitive, much more so than last year, bcs bowl is real, possible top 10 finish is very real if Florida loses a game , usc will be a close game but i think that if were healthy we CAN BEAT them . o irish. the irish will fool people this year. Likewise however, if we play very will at State College I think we might have a good shot at Michigan.
NDFan3
Is scUM right after PSU? If we win at PSU, then I could see us losing to scUM the next week then. Kind of like a let down, only scUM is good. I predict 7 or 8 wins next season, along with a bowl victory.
Guest irishrick
i keep telling you guys that the irish will be in a bcs bowl game and we will beat Michigan in the big house. count on it., we will be in or close to the top ten teams in the country . were going to be a much better team than last year. go irish
Double_Domer
Rick - I agree that we are going to be better than anyone expects. The offense will be better than expected and the defense will actually WIN games this year! Can't wait for spring ball to see the QB race begin or end. irishziggy
same here, i agree we'll be better than everyone expects, but i think after our last 2 performances in the bcs bowls that we're gonna get left out this year. maybe like the gator or outback bowl, but we'll end the bowl drought this year for sure. i say 9 wins including the bowl game.
