Golic Jr. is our first commit of the 08 year! Kinda saw this one coming as his dad is still a HUGE ND homer. This is one that won't be decommitting. Welcome aboard Mr. Golic Jr. A Connecticut kid too! Maybe i'll go see a game or 2 of his!

EDIT*

I swear there wasn't a thread already when I looked at the board. Evidently it didn't refresh when I first got here. Sorry for the double post. I thought it was weird that nobody posted it at 7:30 at night.

First Recruit of 2008

.. Welcome home, Junior.

go irish :D

Not sure if Brown will get to him as he is projected on OL.

But, his father says he has the mind set of a Def lineman and has a mean streak in him.

Golic is a tweener. He can play both OL and DL, and will likely be brought in with that in mind. I do not think he has been targeted to play one or the other right now.

irishguy, your right on however i think based upon a few comments here and there i think he will be on the defensive side of the ball. anyway were glad to have him at notre dame go irish :D

i cringed when golic jr. said it....i knew this would come up

If it happened it happened and something we will have to deal with

Dangit!

Guess what!?

Mike Golic, Jr. has been contacted by a former player of the Irish football program! Now we're in double-trouble!

ooops! My bad, it was his dad! ;)

Do you think he misspoke or CWeis cheated?

Just be glad it's not on the front page of ESPN.com or every major newspaper headline...

Another contact imroc? Jeese.

With the way Charlie Weis goes about his business and for as many times as hes been quoted as saying "we cant do that because that would be an NCAA violation" I doubt HIGHLY that Weis would cheat even accidentally. FAR different from your situation fighton!

He is projected as a C. Big pickup either way.

BG Tom,

How is it far different from SC's situation? Both made comments publicly that indicate NCAA violations. The only difference was that Golic Jr. had his dad there who was someone very familiar w/ NCAA rules to correct him/cover up for him....

Haha NCAA what do you do when a recruit who is the son of an ND legend calls his dad?

What does the NCAA do when a coach calls a junior before April 15??

The difference is that it will be VERY easy to investigate the charges, if any come up. Simple check of the phone records will clear up who called who. A Bush conversation would be harder to prove. Kind of gives off the sense of a cover up. I know you won't like to hear that, but it does.

How about you go flame somewhere else.

And go worry about your own school!

I'm not flaming... I'm not accusing ND of cheating. Rather, I'm just here to point out to the ND fans who are so convinced that there's no way that McKnight "misspoke" that it apparently happens more often than you think...

The difference is that if this happened w/ an SC recruit, it would be on ESPN.com or in the sports section of every major newspaper in the LA area.

Fighton,

I'm pretty sure there wouldn't have been much done about the McKnight incident if the Bush/Jarrett incidents hadn't happened. Once the media gets their noses in your program, ANY additional incidents will become front page news, no matter how minor. Not saying its right, its just the way it is.
