Things have cooled down over here, after the fiascos with management and a bad mod, and unless you want to argue about global warming, there's not any flaming trolls around there. We don't need to be trashed as we're picking ourselves up. We'll be a place to be pround of again. Still, of course I'd rather we never stopped being a place to be pround of, like DD...but oh well. With new direction for the defense with Corwin Brown, and new life injected into the defensive schemes...we should start to see dividends on both sides of the ball. What would it take for you, as Kevin White, to dismiss Charlie after the season? My speculation would say that the team would have to finish 3-9 for this to happen. If this team goes out and looks supremely overmatched I think we'll all have to think about it. I would also speculate that we would have to be way, way behind in recruiting for this to happen. Clearly we have gotten on the right track, but like I've said before sometimes in football the guy who gets the team on the right track may not be the guy to win it all. For instance, if I wanted to get a team turned around I would look for a Walt Harris, Lloyd Carr, Paul Johnson, even though those guys might not get a team over the hump. To further illustrate this point, up until this season I would say Tony Dungy is the kind of guy to turn an NFL team around, and Jon Gruden is the kind of guy to win the big one. On top of that Weis will be let go when he starts pulling in recruiting classes ranked in the 40's like the previous coaching staff. Me personally I don't see this happening. Irish 68 if you arent happy with the way things are going maybe you should go buy an Illinois hat or maybe a Washington Huskie sweatshirt. I hear those two programs are on the rise. However, back to the informative part of the post. I recall Polean telling a parent in Florida (Ray Herrings Dad?) 3 years for the NC. It's unrealistic for an NC 2007. As bluester pointed out and another OK look suppose we do go 5-7. Would fans tolerate that? Would there be screams for the ouster? This has been only year two and that Mr Norris, posted another we were unfair to Ty thing. I can only see more of that same ole same ole racist drumbeat with a 5-7. I know it overlooks the fact there is hardly anyone left in Ty's last class and Weis 2005 guys and practiclly everybody is freshmen or sophs. But we know that is coming. He has had two winning seasons of 9-3 and 10-3 with Willingham's players. Ty had what, one good recruiting class. Now Charlie is putting ND recruiting back on the map, in the top 10. Even if he CW does have a bad year, I just don't think they should fire him because of what he's done and his recruiting classes. However, we won't have to worry about that if we have a bad year, because in my opinion, we won't. If CW can go 9-3 and 10-3 with experienced players who are mostly average, I don't think we'll have any bad records with superb, young players.
