NDFan3
This kid has great size...really great size that will allow him to add another 20 lbs or so and be a real force in the middle. IMO we won't see an offer to Jon Major b/c I think the staff's #1 ILB targets are McDonald and Filer...although I really hope that LeGrand sees one because he could easily shift from LB to DE with that size and strength. McDonald is said to be VERY high on ND, although his dad is a former Trojan. Last year he had 101 tackles, 30 for loss, 9.5 sacks and five forced fumbles. So you know the kids all over the place. He's suppose to be visiting sometime and April, and he even said that if it feels right he might commit.
Guest heismancaliber
this might be the only example where missing on Galippo will help us because our depth chart at ILB will be a lot more favorable to a guy like McDonald.

Guest iRiShMaN
he will be very difficult to get away from USC
irishziggy
i dont think so, i think sometimes parents let their kids go where they want to go. if his dad was usc or not, his dad still wants to see his son play in college and at USC, he'll have to play behind some good players. the kid has the credentials to play on sundays, and he'll have a great shot at lettering 3 or 4 years here. Guest robdog_5
his recent rivals article seems to say that he is not a lock for USC. He will be visiting ND on April 15th. Says ND is on top right now
Guest NDLawJAG
He talked about wanting to see playing time... That may be directed at the SC depth chart. I really like our shot with this kid.
HeliND
I just hope this isn't a Brian Smith situation. I would love to get McDonald but I just get worried when I hear that his father went to USC
irishziggy
yea that's what i was trying to say. our depth chart @ LB, or lack there of is an advantage for us in this case.
Guest irish_at_birth
"I'd say I'm definitely favoring Notre Dame. They've always had a great tradition and 11 national championships. They are the best all-around team and are a terrific school." McDonald plans to visit South Bend in the near future and could decide on that trip. "I'm going up there to watch spring ball on April 15th," he said. "If I really like it there I may commit. I can't say I'll do that right now, but Notre Dame is definitely standing out and showing me the most interest." The junior linebacker's father played college at rival Southern Cal, is there a push for him to join the Trojans? "My dad went to USC and he loved it," he said. "I know he'd love if I went there too. All his friends are calling him saying I need to go to USC. My dad isn't pushing me that hard though. He actually respects Notre Dame a lot since he knows they have a great program." ColinKSU
This seems like a kid that, even if he does commit, Charlie should break out his brand-new "We're still looking" policy on. I smell a Greg Little on this one if he commits. Call me crazy, but you can't really trust kids' words anymore.

Colin, I'm sure CW is going to tell him that if he does commit, he better mean it, and no more visits to other schools. If he can't live with that, don't commit today, take your visits, and if you still want to be a ND man, then welcome aboard. I'm pretty sure thats the new company line

He live close enought to SC that he can visit anytime he wants to unofficially. I guaruntee that there will be SC fans out there reporting he was seen at a game, etc.
Guest Nardo!
Ok, I'm sorry, I have to interject. Every kid is not Greg Little, Justin Trattou or Chris Little. You guys want to string this kid up because of where he lives, where his dad played ball (gag). We don't know anything about this kid's character, but you're assuming it can't be good. Give the kid a break. Maybe he truly wants to be at Notre Dame.

Little, the policy does not effect kids that live near a school.
rdrdreamer
Welcome to Domer Domain 'ColinKSU'... I am pretty sure that by the lessons learned this past year Coach Weis will have a grasp on this young man...among others. While it is hard to draw a 'Legacy' away, especially from an elite program such as USC, but our program can easily be an option for those seeking tradition plus eventual national championship. 2lakes
The problem with Coach Weis's new outlook and policy on recruiting is that it may make him seem even more "uptight" to potential recruits. If that happens, we could end up losing players we might have otherwise had. I hope Coach Weis puts a lot of offers out there and then as the committments come back, he can make a call on a case-by-case basis about how solid he thinks they are. Wouldn't it be nice if he had to revoke the scholarships of kids still wavering at the last minute because of all the solid committments that came in? Then if someone decommitted at the last minute, it would truely be unfair to other recruits, but also not be very harmful to ND.
dangeruss
The problem with Coach Weis's new outlook and policy on recruiting is that it may make him seem even more "uptight" to potential recruits. i agree. in recruiting a lot of it has to do with relating to players and if he comes of as uptight that may hurt our chances with some players. these are 18 year old kids and their minds do wonder around from one minute to the next, it's just the nature of being young.
