Talked to a Chicago guy at superbowl party tonight and he said Weis stayed in his hotel Friday and Saturday and was there with 2 other coaches which sounded like Parmalee and Brown. They were overheard discussing visiting a few guys. Martez may not be totally lost!

wow, good find Chiro!!!!

Getting Tez would be sick. It's nice not to have to worry about it....it's just a helluva bonus if he switches. CB really, really needs to drive home that Chicago connection and make Tez forget about our "uptight white HC"....that statement still pisses me off.

Afterall, Charlie has more "bling" than Zook would every dream of owning. Fo' Shizzle!

DAMN RIGHT HOGAN :D

Like CW says, if he can just get prospects to look at his hand instead of his face... CB will be the deciding factor here though.

I doubt anything comes out of this trip if it is even true. I think Tez is gone, no turning back IMO and if it's anybody that would now commit to ND from the Chicago area I would have to believe it would be DT Josh Brent who like Brian Smith was begging for an ND offer and never got it.

I doubt it with Josh Brent. I remember his video interview at a Spring camp last year. He loved ND. After they did not offer, he said ND was not for him because it was not diverse enough. ... I.E, it did not paint ND in a good light. I doubt they would run back to him with open arms..

Plus Josh Brent is from Bloomington which isn't real close to Chicago...about 2 1/2 hours. Tez would be nice but it could just be '08 guys they were after.

i think you're right archer......

I know that the race issue can get tedious, but it is a fact of life at Notre Dame: something that cannot be ignored and should be addressed.

After not receiving a scholarship offer, this recruit reportadly said that Notre Dame was not diverse enough. Ironically, that is a pretty simple and popular generalization. But besides that, let's look a little closer at this question of diversity and Notre Dame.

I grew up in a predominantly African-American neighborhood and matriculated through the public school system. Having written that, I want you to know that I learned a great deal about diversity by attending Notre Dame (which then led to me working as a Peace Corps volunteer in Paraguay). Reverse the colors for a second and imagine a white kid from a white neighborhood being invited to play school at Grambling, an Historically Black University. Any chance he'd learn something about diversity there? You betcha.

BTW, I was just elected President of the Board of Directors of our local YMCA. That is an institution which, in my city at least, is all about diversity: with regards to race, age, sex and economic condition. Any of you DDers get a chance to help out at a Y, I strongly suggest you consider it.

In my humble opinion, Brent seems over-rated.

Also Bloomington is not exactly a bastion of diversity. Sounds a little bit like sour grapes to me.

The guy at the party got his picture taken with Weis and said he wasn't overly friendly but was accomodating. He siad he heard them discussing recruits and their travels but didn't hear mention of a name. 2 lakes! It is culture shock when you are the only person of any race when you are surrounded by everyone else of another race. I had a practice in S. Florida where all my patients were Jamaican, Haitian or American Black. I had a surreal moment in my practice when I felt like I left my body and was looking around and everyone was black and I was the only white in the building. I was like "wow" if my parents could only see me now. My buddy Delmar from HS was the only black kid in school. He must have felt that way often.

The issue though is these players don't want to go somewhere to LEARN about diversity, they want to go someplace where they can feel comfortable because there are a lot of others like them they can hang out with. It bothers some, and others it does not.

Hmmm

Maybe going to college should be about learning and not about feeling comfortable. Personally, I figure I've got an eternity to feel comfortable, and catch up on my sleep, when I'm dead.

What I found out was that most Americans have the same hopes, dreams and fears!

Don't disagree with you there. There are crazy things that cause recruits to choose a school, including $pecial perk$, girls and weather for some. In ND's case, when they don't want to work hard, they blame it on one of the above, diversity or some other reason.
