i am reading many thread about how brian smith has become great friends with bernstein and ballard (iowa recruits), and has recruited them to iowa. Any chance we offer them also? i know that would be rough on iowa, but all is fair in love and recruiting.

Weis told Ragone he was only taking 1 TE this year and therefore no other TE's were offered.

As for Bernstine, he had interest in ND but grades were believed to be a factor in him not getting an offer.

Ballard is a DE and Bernstein reports a 3.6 GPA, 18 ACT according to another site. Brian Smith received a 19 on the ACT

He is listed as a DE on scout, the 10th best in the nation.

Ballard is talented enough to play TE or DE for anyone. Offensively, he’s a tremendous drive blocker who is quick off the ball, plays low, uses leverage and knows how to extend his arms and punish the defender. Ballard is also athletic with the ball, shows soft hands and good concentration. Defensively, he shows excellent pass rushing skills from the edge. He has a nasty first step and plays with discipline and holds his contain.

Man, if this isn't a quote from another site, you really need to get a job writing for Rivals or Scout writing profiles for recruits.

nope, not mine, would love that job though :D

Ah, there lies the problem.

Scout is not very reliable w/ positions.

Whoaa whooaa is that premium quote Irish?

no not premium, free, don't have any memberships

:D OK

Sir john, DD cop. Looking for #66 :D

Ahahahah  Do gotta be careful tho. :drunk:

I realize Smith has some ties to those other players since he helped recruit them for Iowa. At this point, it is not that ND doesn't think they are good players, etc..., or that they have any negatives, but rather they may have those positions committed by others. At the recruiting year progresses thinks change a school may gain recruits or lose them.

What I think is really bad is when a player commits and a school pulls the scholarship like what happed to Chris Little. Chris is a good player and the FSU coaching decided to go another way.

ND really now wants Smith and needs him at his position.

Blue, was that ever confirmed that FSU pulled Little's schollie?

I thought it was confirmed that FSU did NOT pull his offer.

I assume Little's scholie was probably yanked once Trickett took over because he didn't fit the mold of a Jim Tricket OL.

Their loss is our gain IMO.

Bernstein was next in line for a Safety offer. It is just that three guys were in front of him. I always thought he would be a nice pickup but I think we are set at Safety.

I agree Jag.

Safety looks to be our 2nd most loaded position, 2nd only to QB.
