Recruiting Grade

Recommended Posts

Based on Rivals:

QB #1 JC

All Purpose Backs #2 Allen

RB #7 Hughes

FB None we don't need one right now

WR #6 Duval

TE #3 Ragone

OT #3 and #17 Romine and Nuss

OG #12 and #18 Nwankwo and Little

C None we don't need one right now have Sullivan and Wenger

Weakside DE #22 Neal

Strongside DE #16 Trattou

CB #7 GG

DT #28 Ian Williams

OLB #32 Nagel

ILB None Corwin will make them

Athletes #12, 15, 18, 26 Tate, Little, Smith, Paskorz and lots of speed

This is a phenomenal class and there will be a few additions we should be very pleased not to mention Corwin Brown will raise the level of the defense. This is Charlie fulfilling his promise of a nasty team, CB will bring that on.

We are adding athletes and speed dont sweat the guys we didn't get look at what we did get

We are ranked 5th and have only used 18 scholarships so we save the rest for next year and make it the #1 class

Rivals updates their rankings at 2 every day so I'm not sure if Hughes commitment will bump us up another spot in the rankings.

We probably will finish no lower than 7th when it's all said and done.

The class is solid by those rankings, but just think of all the guys we have who could very easily be ranked even higher.

Trattou is much better than 16

Gray is easily a top 3 or 4 corner

Harrison Smith, Little, and Tate all were and still should be in the top 10 for ATHs

Kerry Neal is one of the most under rated prospects in the country...he probably should be a top 15 or 10 DE, and he wil finally get his 4th *

Kamara is much better than Tolliver and could be 5*

Damn, I can't wait to see what this class is doing in a year or two from now!!!

SC has 2 more 5-stars on the way... :D

I think we round out a little better than Florida, a little less disparity between our kids. Florida has a few kids I'm not really impressed by, I can really only say 1-2 of the kids we got don't impress me much. But Florida picked up 2 stellar QB's, a great OL, and some impressive help on the dline. I think we match up pretty well, but they have a slightly more balanced group. USC is going to end up out of reach imo, they still have about 4-5 5 star kids on their board to my knowledge. O'Dowd is pretty good, not great, but I would have loved to see Tyler throwing on a golden helmet next year. to me:

QB: A, we got Clausen, end of story

RB: A- Hughes and Allen, name a team that got that kind of compliment at that high a level. Allen is 5 star worthy, we are building a stellar backfield, and it's one that answers our needs.

WR: B+ Kamara and Little, pretty strong group but raw, this is B+ with a lot of upside, add Benn here and we had the best group in the nation hands down. I still think we'll be pleased with this in the future, but for now, in this moment, we're a little raw.

TE A Ragone, we got ANOTHER great TE, great speed and reach, I still think he's the best TE in the class.

OL: B Nuss, Dever, Little, Nwankwo, Romine, a pretty solid group, we may see some of them add depth to the DL, and out of the group I'm only really excited about Romine. Little has a lot of potential, but to me he's a project similar to Stewart. Dever adds depth, but I didn't find him to be on the level of Romine for example.

DE B+ Trattou, Neal, One of the most underrated pairs in the entire class. Huge upside on both kids, but we could have used another kid with a motor here. I don't see either kid as ready to come in and play right away, though Trattou does impress me. This is another B+ that we could end up looking back on fondly in a few years.

DT C- Ian Williams, Williams is a solid DT, but not ready to step in, I don't see him as being a dominant rusher, but he seems to make trouble. So the grade isn't reflecting on him, more on a need we didn't address. We may end up moving kids here, but that doesn't mean we handled this need. One of the two major flaws in this class, and not a disaster, but a hard blow to one of our best groups in years.

LB C+ Nagel, Paskorz, some people may find the grade controversial, I see it as realistic. Nagel is a solid kid, Paskorz has potential, but this was another huge need that we didn't address well. We get Donald and it's a different story, we didn't, one of our 2 major needs goes with a partial answer. Ask yourself, was this need addressed above average, or just average? I see it as average, though I think that help is available and it's not yet an emergency.

CB A- Tate, Gray, I'm tenatively putting Tate here. Massive upside, great speed and athleticism, a tremendous showing at the AA game for Gray. Added potent help for the 2nd straight year, very exciting, and winning Gray over was a huge boost to our class.

S B+ Smith, great addition to the class, balance of speed and hitting ability. Another kid who I don't see turning heads on day one, but will be a stud in the future. A B+ because I think he has growing to do, and will need work reading an offense, it wasn't an emergency and we still got a good looking kid.

Class grade: 4/5, or for letter fans a B+, we needed speed more than any single position in my mind, and we got it. I see DT and LB as critical beyond saying in our 08 group, but for now I'm content with the speed we picked up. Tate is versatile and can help on either side of the ball, Clausen and co will reload an offense that was good without all that speed, and have a great group of young DB's. We missed on a few huge kids, but we don't NEED them. Donald I think would have been amazing, so would Wilson, but we can be a great team without them. We would have been SCARY with them. This class laid a great foundation, and if we can build up this foundation, then we have a wonderful start. For the record, the only A classes I see are SC and Florida, I think a B+ for us is unbiased and to the point. We have A potential, but some work ahead of us.

i think its weird how easily warren and o'dowd become 5 stars. and how trattou got dropped off the 100.

Amen brother.

That being said i thought we should have recruited warren from the beginning

Generally when you hear a blue chipper mention ND as one his top schools of interest early on and then he never gets offered, odds are it's because of grades.

Not having your GPA listed in your Rivals profile generally is a bad sign too.
