Does Demetrius Jones not like Jimmy Clausen?

I remember awhile back DJ seemed displeased by how clasuen carried himself, and how he thought he would walk in and take his job.

Who knows? Doesn't matter. If anything it may increase the ferocity of the competition for QB, and that can only be a good thing.

I disagree: It's important to be a team, and have chemestry. This is devisive locker crap on a team. I said previously early on I do not like Jones for his 'mouth' in the SBTribune. "I'm the general" and he's not switching.

For me it's always a coach saying you do what I tell you to do kid no more no less or your gone. I've heard from a source that early fall he called Zach a douchebag etc, etc. from a dormie, I never posted that.

This about JC who, I have objected to slightly  , makes TWO incidents of Jones not liking a fellow team guy. One where he's going to do his thing and his thing only and screw the coaches.

I'm sorry I can't call that confidence or healthy in any way. Devisiveis the word and PUNK/LOUDMOUTH his attitude.

Not gonna lie, I think if Jones doesn't switch positions he is going to end up transfering soon. Do you really think Jimmy is not going to start within the next two years. He is the biggest recruit in recent years and people are going to be pissed if he doesnt play. Ask people on the East and West coast who DJ is and they wouldnt have a clue. I cant wait for spring to see this kids battle it out.

Zach Frazer interview, Caps emphasis mine.

Nick: Q#8: What do you think will be your team's biggest challange to win a championship

Zach Frazer: The biggest challange I think we'll face is staying UNIFIED. Every group small or large, sports based or different at some point experiences SOMEONE THAT WANTS TO BE AN INDIVIDUAL. When that happens AND IT WILLl, we'll have to refocus and work harder to overcome that barrier and continue to work as a UNIT to insure success.

Seems that was a problem all year long

My only knock against Double D was his attitude towards switching positions. He was very much against the idea and made it clear he is a QB and only a QB.

He may end up being a great QB, but unless that quotes were taken out of context, I would have to believe that he will not be at ND if he isn't our starting QB next year.

i don't hold that against him at all. If he's a QB he should want to be a QB. Fierce competition helps a lot in a lot of positions, but i dont think the same holds true for QB. I think compeition helps with positions that rely on sheer effort (defense, O line, basically everything but QB).

I dont know if TEAMUHATE is still around but when Miami had all those great RB's Portis reportedly talked so much shit to Magahee cause he was the young stud gunning at his job. At QB that can only be a distraction. I think these QB's got good personalities though and should be fine.

Well you guys realise things like this are disturbing. It's making for bad chemestry In 2007

ND was flat, lifeless and had all the fire of a bic 2006. That's a lack of leadership. Things like Jones mouth, call it what you want are throwing individualism and clique into the slop our team made in 2006.

I still can't buy the i'm a QB and QB remain. I know QB's switched, a DT is OL or Ol is DT

let's let clausen beat him out first before we worry about DJ switching anywhere

tchris

Competition brings out the best and worst in all of us. When someone is a threat, you treat them differently. Like was said previously, McGahee wanted to quit the football team at Miami, because Portis and the older guys gave him so much grief during their battles at practice. "You don't belong here," "You'll never start you might as well transfer" and many more degrading comments that can't be written were said everyday. This is what made them work so hard and get better though. In reality, DJ is just being real. JC isn't his best friend. He never will e. While he shouldn't express it to the media, he has every right to not like Clausen coming. It's a threat to his childhood dream.

Personally, I do not want a starting quarterback who is content with being a backup. It will all work itself out. Judging by his comments, DJ is gonna do everything in his power to keep Clausen from playing during his time. This is what we need at every position to be the best we can be.

You guys obviously know more than I about DJ details, and his past comments or attitude. My point is only that a certain edge, or cockiness is a good thing. Again, I don't pretend to know DJ's personality, but his aggressiveness about the QB position is a good thing AS LONG AS he respects the coaches and ultimately accepts his future role, whatever that may be. When I was in high school, we had several guys that really didn't care for eachother off of the field, but played like a swiss watch between the white lines. The right coaching can funnel a kid's emotions to the right direction and keep it from hurting the team, yet not take the kid's fire away. I don't think it's necessary for every single player to like eachother, as long as they respect eachother. I don't like Poodle, but I do respect him and what he's done at SC. Of course, publically commenting that you don't like another player is unacceptable, so if DJ did that, then he does need to grow up. I certainly can't argue with the need for unity, it just seems that it should be a goal that is constantly reached for come game time but rarely acquired off the field.

PJackson; yeah, that's what I meant, but you said it better than me.

Pjackson you got a point. I will say the one thing I like about DD is his cockiness. He's from Chicago, that's just how he is. To be honest, I think the more we recruit from that area, the more we'll see it. DD was an awesome QB in high school, so he carries this swagger, which I like. He seems very confident. I think the maturity will come as he grows. I just like his confidence. I also like the fact that everytime they showed Charlie during a game, DJ was right there listening.

Thank you. Let's let their play on the field decide the starter. Not freaking rivals or scout.com.

Guys...i have nothing against the four QB's. But i know also that DJ wasnt the only one by Weis listening in...Zach and Evan were there too. talk of them transferring wont happen till next year around this time at least i think. I dont think anyone transfers from ND, i just think if anyone does quit, or stop on the team, sharpley will go to baseball. But theyre all equal QB's as of now, atleast from what ive heard. The only thing i have against DJ and JC isnt even against them, theyre fine. I just dont like how the others are being forgotten, and everyones counting out Frazer for who knows what (sr year?) or saying you think someone will get the spot because they listen in on the sidelines i cannot believe. I can understand fan favorites, but people should consider those who are equal....equal. Theyre all equal now so why deem one the spot? let them fight it out on the field.

Gallup, I'm not saying the others weren't I'm just saying, that I always saw DJ by Weis, Maybe Charlies fat @*% was blocking my view.
